Sam King is back with two wagers on Wednesday.
With ground conditions looking like deteriorating at both Yarmouth and Sandown throughout the morning, punters could be in for a tricky afternoon at the two feature meetings.
That said, there are a few wagers to be had that should handle the ground.
The first is Love Beach, who reportedly found conditions too quick when a disappointing fifth on his handicap debut at Chester.
Having raced keenly throughout on the twists and turns of the Roodee, James Fanshawe's three-year-old failed to let himself down when asked the question in the final few furlongs, weakening tamely out of contention to finish well-beaten in the end.
However, he's clearly capable of better, as he showed when landing an above-average Haydock maiden prior on ground officially described as good, good to soft in places. The runner-up of that Haydock maiden has since scored twice since and finished fourth in a competitive Goodwood handicap off 94 to give the form a solid look.
Conditions this afternoon should be much more suitable for this son of New Bay and with the James Fanshawe team in decent form, he looks fairly priced to bounce back at around the 15/2 mark.
1pt Win – Love Beach
Odds – 15/2
The other bet on the Yarmouth card comes in the shape of Valvano. Trained by Ralph Beckett, he looked progressive in decent ten-furlong handicaps prior to absolutely bombing out at Epsom last start.
He's been off the track 102 days since, so it's possible there was a genuine reason for that complete no-show, while the first-time cheekpieces worn that day are also quickly disposed with as well.
With that in mind, I'm happy to just draw a line through that last performance and base him off his prior efforts, which include an excellent third-place finish behind the talented Bolster in a competitive York handicap on soft ground last season and a pleasing fourth-place finish on his reappearance at Goodwood back in May.
Conditions should be spot on for Ralph Beckett's son of Night Of Thunder here, while the drop back to Class 3 company for the first time also looks a major plus.
He looks like the class act in this line-up and assuming he's back on track, he might take some beating.
1pt Win – Valvano
Odds – 7/2
