King’s best bets - 14th September 2025

Sam King is back with two bets on Sunday.

Aidan O'Brien won the Moyglare last season with Lake Victoria and looks to have another leading contender in the shape of Composing, who hasn't looked back since being beaten on debut.

A winner of a course and distance maiden back in June, Aidan O'Brien's filly has gone from strength to strength since, winning the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes before her runaway victory in the Group 2 Debutante Stakes.

There should be plenty more to come from this striking daughter of Wootton Bassett, who looks as though she only does what's required when out in front.

Christophe Soumillon has already enjoyed success for the Ballydoyle camp this weekend and with confidence on a high, he can steer this progressive two-year-old to success.

2pt Win – Composing

Odds – 6/4

Charlie Appleby has won three of the last seven renewals of the National Stakes, and I'm surprised that Saba Desert is as big as he is in the market this afternoon.

With Aidan O'Brien's Coventry Stakes scorer Gstaad taking a huge chunk out of the market, Saba Desert is a must bet from an each-way angle.

The sizeable son of Dubawi made an impressive winning debut at Sandown before claiming the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket second time out to defend his unbeaten record.

Appleby has a history of running his best juveniles in that contest, while it was pleasing to see the third-place Wild Desert finish a brutally unlucky second in top company at Woodbine last night.

The re-opposing Italy has since run well in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes at York to give the form some further substance and it looks as though Charlie Appleby's colt has been underestimated in the betting once more.

He's surely a huge price at around 6/1 and cannot be missed from an each-way angle.

1.5pt Each-way – Saba Desert

Odds – 6/1
