Hayes receives Anmaat call-up

Connections have revealed that Chris Hayes will take the ride on Anmaat in this weekend's Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

Hayes will step in for the sidelined Jim Crowley, who suffered a horror fall at York on Sunday, while Anmaat will be looking to get his head in front for the first time since his shock success in last year's Qipco Champion Stakes having filled the runner-up spot in both the Tattersalls Gold Cup and Prince Of Wales's Stakes this season.

Chris Hayes is no stranger to enjoying big-race success in the colours of Shadwell having steered Awtaad to Classic victory in the 2016 Irish 2000 Guineas.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the injured Crowley "sustained a pelvic and leg fracture" in a statement released by the Injured Jockey's Fund.

It continued: "After initial treatment to stop internal bleeding, he underwent surgery to stabilise his fractures. He is doing well post operation, is in good spirits and will remain in hospital for the time being."

Moon Target heads May Hill decs

Moon Target will look to get back to winning ways when she faces eight rivals in Thursday's Group 2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

Always held in high regard by handler Sir Mark Prescott, Moon Target created a sizeable impression in winning her first two outings before coming up slightly short when pitched into the Group 3 Prestige Fillies' Stakes at Glorious Goodwood eighteen days ago. The Cheveley Park Stud-owned juvenile will now step up to a mile for the first time as she takes on the likes of Venetian Lace, who was last seen finishing third in the Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket, and Andrew Balding's impressive Kempton maiden winner Pacific Mission.

Later on the card, Moon Target's stablemate Consent heads a field of ten in the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes.

Owned by Denford Stud, Consent will step up in trip on the back of a second-place finish in Group 3 company at Deauville.

Leading trainers John and Thady Gosden look set to saddle four contenders, with Danielle, Crepe Suzette, Zilfee and Queens Fort all in line to take their chance, while William Haggas is doubly represented with Santorini Star and Chorus.

Touleen toys with Zanthos to remain unbeaten

Owen Burrows looks to have a very exciting prospect on his hands after Touleen claimed the scalp of Zanthos to make to two from two in the Gascare Services EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes.

The Simon and Ed Crisford-trained Zanthos was sent off a 4/11 chance on the back her facile debut success at Newmarket last month, but she failed to prove a match for Touleen, who travelled powerfully under William Buick before scorching clear for an impressive three and a half-length victory.

"She's got a great mind on her which is a big plus," Burrows told Racing TV. "She did everything right at Newbury and has done everything right again today.

"William (Buick) was very impressed, and I think you can be nothing but impressed."

The winner holds an entry in the Rockfel Stakes and Fillies' Mile at Newmarket, with Owen Burrows perhaps favouring the former at this stage for his talented daughter of Lope De Vega.

Burrows added: "If she comes out of it ok we've got to look at the Rockfel.

"She's by Lope De Vega so I'm thinking she'll handle a little bit of cut. Whether we think of the Fillies' Mile we'll see, it comes quick enough."

Bay City Roller given Champion Stakes option

George Scott's classy three-year-old Bay City could be set for a return to France, with the Newmarket-based trainer nominating both the Prix du Conseil at Longchamp and Ascot's Qipco Champion Stakes as possible targets.

The son of New Bay has done little wrong in defeat this season, filling the runner-up spot in both the Heron Stakes at Sandown and Prix Eugene Adam at Saint-Cloud before finding the Andre Fabre-trained Cualificar too strong in the Qatar Prix Niel at Longchamp on Sunday.

Despite running so well in the major Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe trial, connections have ruled out a trip to Paris for Europe's premier middle-distance prize.
