Sam King has been in fine form of late and returns with two selections on Saturday.

Haydock appears to have missed the rain that the rest of the country has received, so we can expect just a decent and sound surface up on the Merseyside this afternoon for their feature Sprint Cup.

Plenty will fancy their chances in the Haydock opener but it's possible we'll see an exciting type in the shape of Zeus Olympios, who has created a sizeable impression on both outings to date.

He has something to find with the principles on official ratings but it's interesting that top handler Karl Burke has decided to pitch him into Group 3 company when other options would surely have been available.

A snug winner on debut over seven furlongs at Kempton, he readily followed up with a smooth victory under a penalty at Thirsk last time out. The form of that Thirsk contest hasn't exactly worked out, but it was tough not to be impressed with how he lengthened away that day, shaping as though he was a colt with bundles of potential.

He should continue to progress with racing and with Haydock's lengthy, galloping straight to suit, Karl Burke's charge gets the nod to remain unbeaten.

Later on the card, Richard Hughes' Circus Of Rome looks ultra-progressive and could defy a large hike in the weights in the staying handicap at 2.25.

He showed sizeable improvement when stepping up to a mile and a half at Newbury earlier in the season, travelling strongly before pulling clear late on, and followed that up with an even more impressive display in a competitive Racing League handicap at Newcastle last time.

There's no doubt that an 11lb hike in the weights demands more, but he's open to further progress now stretching out to one-mile six and could prove equal to the task with this galloping track expected to play to his strengths.
