R1 - British EBF Peter Willett Future Stayers' Maiden Stakes – (13:48)

A tricky three-runner affair for placepot punters in the opener. You'd be hard-pressed for ruling any of the trio out so the sensible option might be to play the three, however, if looking for a straight selection then I Can Dance looks like the most solid option. An imposing son of Bated Breath, he produced a debut full of promise when second at Newmarket eleven days ago and should relish stepping up to a mile with Buick in the saddle.

R2 - Virgin Bet Fillies' Nursery – (14:23)

Worsening conditions has meant that we're down to another field of three, once again making life tough for those wishing to get involved in the placepot. The penalised Anaisia holds obvious claims on the back of her improved success in the Listed Ripon Champion Two Yrs Old Trophy recently but she, like the other two, has something to prove on testing ground. A tentative vote goes the way of Slay Queen, who battled on well to land a Newbury novice last time and is out of a French-bred mare that won in testing conditions.

R3 – Virgin Bet Supports Safe Gambling Handicap – (14:58)

Yesterday's facile Brighton winner Another Bear will command respect if turning out quickly, although soft ground is an unknown. With that in mind, the in-form Roach Power looks like a solid alternative from the foot of the weights. A good third in the class above off this mark at Newbury last time out, Michael Wigham's charge will not mind conditions turning soft having won a heavy-ground handicap at Haydock for previous connections. He remains feasibly weighted and should be thereabouts.

R4 - Cleansing Service Group Novice Stakes – (15:33)

Experience could count for plenty here. Andrew Balding's Jupiter Ammon remains a maiden after five outings thus far, but he's shown a clear level of ability and sets the standard with an official rating of 81. Sons of New Bay tend to handle cut in the ground, so it's possible he could find some improvement on this easier surface, while he was by no means disgraced when sixth (beaten three lengths) in a warm handicap over further at this venue.

R5 - Royal Sussex Regiment Handicap – (16:08)

Novelista faces some out of form rivals in leg five of the placepot at Goodwood and could well get off the mark now on testing ground. The Charlie Johnston-trained colt has yet to get his head in front but arrives having posted a solid effort in defeat when seventh

in the Melrose at York last time out. This stiffer stamina test on soft ground should bring out the best in him and he's selected to strike.

R6 - LiveScoreBet Handicap – (16:43)

The consistent Bownder might be a touch vulnerable from a win perspective, but he should have every chance of finishing in the frame. A winner off a mark of 66 here in June, he finished a decent runner-up off 2lb higher at Newbury eighteen days ago. He's up another 2lb for that effort but stays ten furlongs well and handles all conditions.
