Monday’s Placepot Picks includes six selections from Windsor…
WINDSOR
R1 – Jungle Monarch
R2 – Lodge
R3 – Abaawy
R4 – Byblos
R5 – Medenilla
R6 – Arf's Duchess
RACE 1 – ARC £1Million Bonus Has £150K Increase! Nursery Handicap (16:30 UK)
Jungle Monarch (4/1)
Karl Burke's Jungle Monarch makes the long journey from Yorkshire to Windsor in search of a first career victory. Placed on the outing prior and post gelding operation, the son of Bungle Inthejungle is having his first start over six furlongs – a change which should spark further improvement.
RACE 2 – Hamish Johnson Memorial Fillies' Novice Stakes (17:00 UK)
Lodge (11/8)
It looks a straightforward choice in the novice stakes, given the eye-catching run of Lodge when winning on debut at Ffos Las. She raced prominently in the early stages and despite showing signs of inexperience at the business end of the race, the daughter of Churchill ran out an easy two-and-a-half length winner. This looks another straightforward task.
RACE 3 – Juddmonte EBF Restricted Novice Stakes (17:30 UK)
Abaawy (7/2)
Abaawy was thrown in at the deep end when well-beaten behind Isaac Newton on debut during the Glorious Goodwood meeting and he showed an improved level of form when second behind the impressive favourite on the July Course next time. An improving sort, he's a half-brother to the promising Haggas handicapper Bullet Point.
RACE 4 - Windsor Oktoberfest Handicap (18:00 UK)
Byblos (5/4)
Another hot favourite in the placepot, but this Juddmonte-owned gelding has plenty of class and looks difficult to oppose. A half-sister to Siskin, Byblos is a quality individual who hasn't quite fulfilled expected promise, although he recorded his first victory at Southwell at the start of August. He remains on a lenient mark and should take advantage.
RACE 5 – Bugler Group Handicap (18:30 UK)
Medenilla (15/2)
Jack Channon's Medinilla has been consistent over her last few runs on the current mark, placing second at Catterick before a fourth on the all-weather at Chelmsford. Despite at victory at Wolverhampton, she has shaped like a filly better on turf and another big performance would not surprise.
RACE 6 - Windsor Fireworks Night Handicap (19:00 UK)
Arf's Duchess (10/1)
Stepping into handicap company for the first time, Arf's Duchess has the potential for further improvement on her fourth career start. She is assisted by Oisin Murphy, who rode the daughter of Saxon Warrior when fourth at Thirsk two starts ago, and her form shows enough promise to anticipate she could finish in the frame.
