The team look at tomorrow’s action live on ITV.
R1 – Beverley - William Hill Silver Cup Handicap – (13:30)
While any William Haggas runner sent to Beverley commands respect due to the Somerville Lodge handler's impeccable record there and current rich run of form, favourite Crown Of Oaks could be worth opposing in favour of last-time-out Ripon winner Spioradalta. The highly consistent and versatile Mark Walford-trained gelding placed attempting course and distance back in June before registering a visually striking victory most recently at Ripon – a win in which he made every yard of the running. With the yard operating at an impressive 42% strike rate in flat turf contests over the past two weeks and returning £31.25 to a £1 level stake, a 3lb rise in the weights could prove generous.
R2 – Sandown - Download The BetMGM App Handicap – (1:50)
Headmaster was bitterly disappointing when a well-backed favourite for a warm handicap at Glorious Goodwood last time, but he retains plenty of potential. There's no better handler in form at the moment than William Haggas and it would be surprising if this gelding wasn't capable of better. A son of Dubawi who is out of the stables three-time Foret heroine One Master, he looked useful when landing a Windsor novice event prior and there's hope on his page that he'll handle these soft conditions.
R3 – Beverley - William Hill Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes – (14:05)
Former Group 1 winner Regional earns a confident vote in the feature race on the card. The classy seven-year-old has been thereabouts in more testing company than this recently, registering consecutive placings this season in the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury before underperforming somewhat when fourth in the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest on his first appearance across the channel at Deauville. Now facing the starter in Listed class for the first time in over two years, should the application of first-time blinkers prove no adversity, he rates the one to beat.
R4 – Sandown - BetMGM Atalanta Stakes – (14:25)
The progressive Blue Bolt needs to prove herself on soft ground and might be vulnerable from stall eleven, so the vote goes to Spiritual, who carries a penalty for winning the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom before her no-show in the Group 1 Prix Rothschild in France. A winner over course and distance in Listed company last season, she could get her own way out in front and has proven form on soft ground.
R5 – Chester - Virgin Bet Chester Stakes – (14:40)
This looks to be all about Tom Clover's Tabletalk. The Clover team appear to have found a really nice opening for him to get back to winning ways and it will be disappointing if he can't grasp it with both hands. Sixth in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes behind Rebel's Romance at Royal Ascot before finishing third in the Group 3 John Smith's Silver Cup Stakes at York, Tom Clover's charge sets the standard on ratings and should appreciate dropping back to Listed level. The application of first-time cheekpieces is an interesting addition and they help him return to the winners' circle.
R6 – Sandown - Read Meg Nicholls' Blog At betmgm.co.uk Handicap – (15:00)
Roger Varian felt that ground conditions were on the quick side when Saddadd landed the often informative and valuable London Gold Cup at Newbury earlier in the season. He hasn't been seen since and fits into the 'could be anything' category but he's short enough in the betting and at the prices, Savvy Victory looks interesting. A previous course and distance scorer, who tends save his best at this venue, he shaped much better than the bare result when eighth at Goodwood last time out and the booking of Colin Keane also catches the eye.
R7 – Sandown – BetMGM Solario Stakes – (15:35)
The late defection of Publish is disappointing. John and Thady Gosden's colt looked highly promising and would have been the one to beat. In his absence, Pacific Avenue can capitalise. The form of his narrow Newmarket debut success has worked out nicely, with the runner-up going to finish a close third in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes next time out, while he also represents a top stable in Charlie Appleby that have won this in two of the last three seasons.
