Sunday’s Placepot Picks includes six selections from the feature meeting of the day, Goodwood…
GOODWOOD
R1 – Treble Tee
R2 – Aylin
R3 – Jakajero
R4 – Saqqara Sands
R5 – Ancient Egypt
R6 - Arkinthestars
RACE 1 – Virgin Bet A Good Bet Handicap (13:50 UK)
Treble Tee (13/2)
Simon and Ed Crisford's Treble Tee looked to be a horse with an exciting future when winning at Newmarket's Two-Year-Old day in October, but hasn't reached the same heights as a three-year-old. He looked more like his old self when having his first start after a gelding operation and the wind surgery, finishing second at Thirsk and looks an appealing price in this field.
RACE 2 – Virgin Bet Prestige Fillies' Stakes (14:25 UK)
Aylin (11/2)
Karl Burke was effusive in his praise for Aylin when she won at Goodwood in a competitive thirteen runner maiden, citing future Group possibilities such as the Lowther Stakes at York. She may not have been exposed in Stakes company yet, but she showed a game attitude in difficult conditions to score at Goodwood and breeding suggests faster ground won't be an issue.
RACE 3 – Livescorebet Handicap (15:00 UK)
Jakajero (4/1)
The Robert Cowell yard are in good order with two winners in the last fortnight and Jakajero appears to come to the fore at this time of year to match the form of the stable. He produced an improved performance when third in the Stewards' Cup on his last start and has run well on both attempts at the track.
RACE 4 – Virgin Bet Celebration Mile Stakes (15:35 UK)
Saqqara Sands (6/1)
Ralph Beckett's Saqqara Sands looks to be an appealing price on her first step up to Group 2 company. Lightly campaigned as a two-year-old, she's been brought along slowly by connections, picking up a Carlisle Listed race before dead-heating with
stablemate Tabiti in the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes over seven furlongs during the Glorious meeting. She tries for a mile for the first time, with a strong chance.
RACE 5 – British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes (16:10 UK)
Ancient Egypt
Charlie Johnston's Ancient Egypt will carry a penalty for his victory at Beverley on debut, but the performance suggests he could be capable of overcoming it. Prominent in second, he showed a game attitude to overcome the long-term leader and the small step up in trip will be in his favour.
RACE 6 - City Of Chichester Selling Stakes (16:45 UK)
Arkinthestars
Arkinthestars tries the interim trip of 1m3f for the first time in her eleven-start career and has caught the eye on numerous points during the season. She was an impressive eight-and-a-half length winner of a maiden at Ripon in April and achieved a first handicap success at Doncaster in early July. She shaped better than the bare result when last of five at Hamilton last time and can go close.
