Sam King looks through all five races shown live on ITV Racing on Wednesday.
Race 1 Hong Kong Jockey Club World Pool Handicap (13:50 UK)
A competitive opener with 20 runners going to post for the five-and-a-half-furlong sprint. Richard Spencer's charge The Man looks sure to be popular on his first outing since landing a course and distance handicap 96 days ago, but he missed Royal Ascot due to a small setback and might just tighten up for assignment. With that in mind, Jordan Electrics is preferred for the in-form Jim Goldie. He ran as well as physically possible when ninth in the Stewards' Cup having been drawn on the wrong side of the track, while a 2lb drop in the weights for that effort puts him off 1lb lower than when second to subsequent Group 2 scorer Jm Jungle in this race twelve months ago.
Race 2 - Tattersalls Acomb Stakes (14:25 UK)
Aidan O'Brien and Charlie Appleby dominated the market when The Lion In Winter and Ruling Court went head-to-head in this twelve months ago and they do so once more with Distant Storm and Italy. Preference goes the way of the latter, whose latest runner-up effort in the Superlative Stakes can be upgraded given he was forced to make his challenge away from the winner Saba Desert. Aidan O'Brien's juvenile didn't have anything to race against on that occasion, and he surely would have benefited for some company. York's long galloping straight should play to his strengths and with the form of his debut success also taking a recent boost, he looks poised to regain the winning thread.
Race 3 - Sky Bet Great Voltigeur Stakes (15:00 UK)
Aidan O'Brien has won the last two renewals of this and looks to hold all the aces once more. It's tough to look past his dual Derby hero Lambourn, who doesn't do anything flashy but drops in grade as a preparation for his autumn campaign. He sets a tall standard and can complete the hat-trick by defying a 5lb penalty.
Race 4 - Juddmonte International Stakes (15:35 UK)
An absolute barnstormer of a Juddmonte International despite just six going to post. The addition of Godolphin's pacemaker Birr Castle could prove pivotal for Ombudsman, who didn't have the ideal trip when beaten a neck by the reopposing Delacroix in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes. William Buick was forced to play his hand earlier than he wanted to at Sandown and it's likely he'll delay his challenge here with Birr Castle there to set solid fractions. The way he quickened up to land the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot is set in the memory, and a reproduction of that performance can see him score for a stable that have won two of the last five running's of this.
Race 5 - Sky Bet Stayers Handicap (16:10 UK)
Local trainer Brian Ellison won this in 2014, and he might be able to get back on the roll of honour thanks to Terrorise, who looks particularly interesting with Hollie Doyle booked to do just 8st 2lb at the foot of the weights. A commanding winner over course and distance when upped to this trip 39 days ago, Brian Ellison's four-year-old has an unexposed profile as a stayer on the level. He's up 8lb and significantly in grade but it's remains to be seen where his limit may lie in this sphere.
