O’Brien eyeing Prix Morny with Gstaad following Curragh defection

Aidan O’Brien will look towards the Prix Morny for his high-class juvenile Gstaad, who was withdrawn from yesterday’s Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh due to not eating up.

With Gstaad forced to sit on the sidelines for yesterday's Phoenix Stakes, True Love looked to have something of an open goal as she attempted to follow up impressive wins in the Queen Mary and Railway Stakes.

However, she failed to land the odds and had to settle for second place behind the Amo Racing-owned Power Blue.

Whilst no plans have been made for the defeated True Love, Aidan O'Brien will now look to Deauville for the Prix Morny at Deauville on August 24 should all be well with Gstaad.

Speaking to Racing TV of his impressive Coventry Stakes winner, Aidan O'Brien said: "He didn't eat up last night, but he had no temperature, and his bloods look OK. He was a little bit quiet and sometimes if you run that type of horse they can have a temperature the following day. Then if they have a temperature you have to take a week for every hour, so we didn't take a chance with him.

"Hopefully he'll be ok, and if he is, and everything is right, hopefully he'll go to Deauville."
