The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt is due to take on his stablemate True Love for a second time having got the better of the argument when they met at Navan in May.

Gstaad has since gone on to land the Coventry Stakes in fine style at the Royal meeting, while True Love has also gone on to greater things, breaking her maiden tag in the Queen Mary Stakes before putting up an impressive display to land the Railway Stakes by five lengths.

O'Brien, who has won the race with the likes of George Washington and Little Big Bear, told the Racing Post: "Gstaad has been trained all along for the Phoenix and everything had gone absolutely perfectly in the lead-up to the race, but he just had a little blow this morning and he was a bit quiet in himself afterwards.

"We'll be keeping a close eye on him, and we'll have to see whether he comes back to himself this evening and if he eats and drinks up in the morning.

Ryan Moore is currently booked to ride Gstaad in Sunday's Group 1, although should the colt fail to line-up then it would be likely that he would switch to True Love.
