‘She might benefit from dropping back to the minimum trip’ - Sam King’s daily wagers

Sam King is back with three selections on Wednesday

Field Of Gold is short odds to oblige in the Sussex Stakes and rightly so following his powerful display in the St James's Palace. This track will pose him different questions, but he should be equal to the task, especially as both his main rivals Rosallion and Henri Matisse prefer slightly quicker ground.

The best bet on a typically competitive Glorious Goodwood card is Music Piece in the ten-furlong fillies' handicap at 3.45.

Trained by Andrew Balding, she almost certainly found the ground too lively when only eighth on her handicap debut at Ascot nineteen days ago.

Andrew Balding's daughter of Camelot showed a liking for cut in the ground when getting the better of the promising 95-rated Consent in a mile Haydock novice event as a juvenile, while she proved that she stayed the ten-furlong trip when denied a neck in Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes two starts ago.

With proven form over course and distance and with some ease in the ground, she looks to have every chance of striking for the first time as a three-year-old now dropping back to a mile and a quarter.

1pt Win – Music Piece

Odds – 9/2

Later on the card, Zelaina looks sure to be popular now tackling this sharp five furlongs on the back of showing plenty of speed when eighth in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. Karl Burke's horse could easily take some beating, but she's also short enough in the market and I'm happy to side with an each-way alternative.

Step forward Luna Mia. A twice-raced maiden who drops to five furlongs for the first time. Trained by Michael O'Callaghan, who saddled Black Forza to land the Group 2 Richmond Stakes here last year for the same connections, Luna Mia has shown plenty of ability in her two outings to date, going down narrowly on debut over six and a half furlongs at Listowel before finishing a solid fourth behind the highly promising Beautify and Lady Iman in the Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes.

She showed plenty of natural speed when narrowly beaten first time out at Listowel, so with first-time blinkers applied, it's easy to think that she might benefit from dropping back to the minimum trip.

It's likely she'll need to find some improvement to trouble the market leader, but that's entirely possible dropping in trip and she looks an interesting contender from an each-way angle.

0.5pt Each-way – Luna Mia

Odds – 10/1

It will be disappointing if Lady Iman can't get back to winning ways in the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes at 2.30.

The Ger Lyons-trained two-year-old smacked of a top-class filly when taking some notable scalps on her first three outings. The form of her success in the Listed Holden Plant Rentals First Flier Stakes at the Curragh took a major boost when True Love followed up in both the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes and the Railway Stakes, while she also got the better of subsequent Group 2 Prix Robert Papin scorer Green Sense on her next start in the Coolmore Stud Irish EBF Blackbeard Fillies Sprint Stakes.

She surrendered her unbeaten record when seemingly outstayed by the potentially useful Beautify in the Airlie Stud Stakes, so it's no shock to see connections opt to drop her back to five furlongs here.

This daughter of the firing first-season sire Starman retains bundles of potential, and, in all truth, she should be regaining the winning thread under Ryan Moore.

1pt Win – Lady Iman

Odds – 13/8
