Minnie Hauk heads seven Irish Oaks declarations

Minnie Hauk will take on six rivals as she attempts to complete the English-Irish Oaks double at the Curragh on Saturday.

Trained by Aidan O'Brien and booked to be ridden by Ryan Moore, the daughter of Frankel is a general 1/4 chance to follow up her narrow success over stablemate Whirl in the English Oaks last month. Whirl, who has since defeated Kalpana in the Pretty Polly Stakes, was, as expected, withdrawn at the declaration stage.

O'Brien is still responsible for four of the seven contenders, with Merrily, Island Hopping and Butterfly Wings all set to take their chance.

Minnie Hauk's main danger looks like coming from the Joseph O'Brien-trained Wemightakedlongway, who finished fourth behind the favourite at Epsom before filling the same position in the aforementioned Pretty Polly Stakes.

Johnny Murtagh's Subsonic and Fozzy Stack's Bay Colony complete the field of seven.

On the same card, Ryan Moore has been booked to ride Ed Walker's Mgheera in the Group 2 Barberstown Castle Sapphire Stakes, while Johnny Portman's supplemented Rumstar is also in the mix.

Over in England, the Eve Johnson-Houghton-trained Havana Hurricane heads a field of 20 in the valuable Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes at Newbury.

A winner of the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, Havana Hurricane is currently a general even-money chance to land the prize.
