David Menuisier is looking forward to aiming his star mare Tamfana at some of Europe’s top-level autumn contests, with the ten-furlong Prix de l'Opéra on Arc Day nominated as her main target.
A winner of the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes last year, the daughter of Soldier Hollow made a highly encouraging reappearance when chasing home Dancing Gemini in the bet365 Mile at Sandown earlier in the season before things didn't go to plan in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.
Connections have now opted to draw stumps for the remainder of the summer, with Menuisier keen to eye further top-level prizes later in the campaign.
"She's fine. She was a little bit off colour a few weeks ago so we decided to take it easy this summer and give her an easy time," explained the trainer.
"She's still in training but she's on a mini break and we'll aim to get her going back towards the end of August to make sure we can peak in October."
Whilst her sole Group 1 success to date came on home soil, Tamfana looks likely to return to France at some point during the season.
The now four-year-old in no stranger to racing across the Channel having landed the Prix Miesque as juvenile before creditable third and fourth place finishes in both the Group 1 Prix de Diane Longines and Grand Prix de Paris last season.
When asked if the Qatar Prix Arc de Triomphe could still be on the cards, he said: "Possibly not the Qatar Prix Arc de Triomphe. I think her main target will be the Prix de l'Opéra at the moment.
"For the Arc, she would have to prove herself over the trip before and I'm not sure we have time to do that route."
