‘He should do better with that run under his belt’ - Sam King’s daily wagers

The extended mile Class 2 handicap at Hamilton looks like a contest well worth keeping an eye on this afternoon, with Roger Varian's exciting Sallaal top of the market. However, he's short enough from a punting perspective and there are better wagers to be had on the card.

In the following handicap (3.55) over the same course and distance, Individualism looks like a fair price for Charlie Johnston, who has his team in decent order at present and is by no means a stranger to success at the south Glasgow venue.

A record of 1-14 does temper enthusiasm a touch but he was very well-regarded as a two-year-old and arrives following two good runs in recent starts.

Owned by Dr Jim Walker, Individualism posted a creditable effort in defeat when fourth behind the promising Castle Stuart in Class 2 company at Musselburgh last time.

He was still in with a shout passing the furlong marker but weakened out of contention late on.

However, back down to Class 4 level and with first-time cheekpieces applied, it wouldn't be at all surprising were he to last longer at the business end this afternoon.

1pt Win – Individualism

Odds – 13/2

Paul Attwater is 2-6 with his runners over the last fortnight and it's by no means impossible that Qaaeadd could add to the tally in the finale at Leicester (5.10).

A half-brother to the Marco Botti-trained Group 3 winner Great Generation, Qaaead cost a pretty 120,000gns as a yearling before being sold to current connections following his debut sixth at Windsor.

He failed to build on his debut effort at Wolverhampton and Kempton last Windsor but seemingly benefited for the switch to handicaps when making his reappearance at Brighton last month.

The gelded son of Earthlight was only beaten two and a half lengths into sixth on that occasion, despite hanging left-handed in the closing stages. He should do better with that run under his belt and with first-time cheekpieces also an interesting addition, he gets the vote to come out on top off a 2lb lower mark.

1pt Win – Qaaeadd

Odds – 4/1
