Race 1
Race Summary: Exciting start to the meeting with a field full of unraced juveniles. Trainer Mike Miller has a great strike rate with his two-year-olds and with his seven entries should hold all the aces. On riding arrangements MASTER MAGICIAN could be the stable elect but STEAMY WINDOWS and filly JAPURA have drawn well and could be livewires too. Follow the betting closely to get an idea as to who are the most precocious.
Selections:
#6 Master Magician, #5 Japura, #7 Amc Roy's Fantasy, #2 Ode To The Sea
Race 2
Race Summary: More first-timers to watch out for. BEST OF ALL is regally bred and could live up to his name. He races for a stable in hot form and Rafeef filly HEY DIDDLE DIDDLE, who has a speedy Australian pedigree, could also be one to watch. But there are horses with some decent form. EASTERN HIGHLANDS was beaten as favourite last time but the1000m looked short. He could make amends. PLACE OF PRACTICE made good improvement to finish ahead of EASTERN HIGHLANDS but a wide draw could make things tough. WINTER IN LONDON has also shown potential but returns from a break.
Selections:
#2 Eastern Highlands, #15 Place Of Practice, #1 Winter In London, #5 Best Of All
Race 3
Race Summary: MR MCDONALD was a bit all over the place on debut. A slow start didn't help his cause on debut either and he did well to finish runner-up on the Polytrack. He can only improve. PAST AND PRESENT must be respected. He has shown potential in the Western Cape and while in need of further he could enjoy the trip racing fresh. DIRECTOR's last run is best ignored. He has run well at this venue and must have a say on form even if having drawn wide. There wasn't much between DONMAGOO and DUBAI DUDE who should show more with racing.
Selections:
#7 Mr Mcdonald, #1 Past And Present, #13 Director, #4 Donmagoo
Race 4
Race Summary: THOUGHT CONTROL looks to be in the right race after a fair debut effort. She stayed on strongly to finish ahead of SOVEREIGN GEM in the runner-up spot and can go one better. SOVEREIGN GEM showed good pace, didn't fade out and can make further progress. She has drawn in gate No 1 and could get the run of the race. ANNIE'S SONG has drawn widest which should make things tough for her. She has decent form but will need a bit of luck to be in with a winning chance. HEAVENLY MAFIA and ROY'S BLOSSOM haven't done badly and can be considered for minor money.
Selections:
#5 Thought Control, #1 Sovereign Gem, #13 Annie's Song, #3 Heavenly Mafia
Race 5
Race Summary: Some promising three-year-olds in the hunt against their elders. CLEARTHERUNWAY won well, beating re-opposing ERIC'S LEGACY who himself ran out a facile winner of his last start. The former will need to improve to maintain the form as he is worse off at the weights. Both will relish the extra but it doesn't end there. GREATEST HIT, like ERIC'S LEGACY, looks to have beaten a field low on form but he won easily and is open to good improvement too. LIONS EYE ran unplaced last time but he sharpened up over the sprint and now over a more suitable distance. PHUTULICIOUS must have a say too.
Selections:
#11 Cleartherunway, #5 Eric's Legacy, #10 Greatest Hit, #8 Lions Eye
Race 6
Race Summary: MAGMA MAGIC won his maiden over the track and trip earlier and is finally back over the same course and distance. He has been holding form over further. Watch out for SUN DAZED who will enjoy a good pace. He has been running on but will need a good gallop as he has drawn widest. IN THE BAG could take advantage. He has run two good races in a row and hasn't drawn badly. BANK STREET may just relish being switched to the turf track. He has fair Poly form but has done well on the grass. EMOYENI could have a say.
Selections:
#3 Magma Magic, #13 Sun Dazed, #5 In The Bag, #7 Bank Street
Race 7
Race Summary: SASCHA'S DREAM ran on by MISS TWINKLE and could confirm as they meet again at the same weight terms. The former has drawn widest but she boasts a decent finish and is overdue. MISS TWINKLE may not have been as suited to the Polytrack in her last start as she is to turf and must be taken seriously. GIMMEFORSURE could be anything on her local debut. She hasn't done badly on the Highveld and must be respected jumping from gate No 1. GRAND OCCASION is in good form and looking to score for the first time at this venue. More can upset.
Selections:
#12 Sascha's Dream, #3 Miss Twinkle, #1 Gimmeforsure, #5 Grand Occasion
Race 8
Race Summary: MAPHAKA has been running well in strong contests. He could get rewarded back at the track at which his only win has come. But this is an ultra-competitive race. Watch out for youngster MIGHTY ZAMBEZI who had a wide draw to overcome in his last start. He has shown potential and now returns as a gelding. LOVE MY STYLE is also open to improvement. He has run well over 1000m but should relish the extra as he is bred for it. BEAMONESQUE has found good form again and should be right on top of them. FORTRESS OF FIRE wasn't far off him and is one of many with a claim.
Selections:
#7 Maphaka, #5 Mighty Zambezi, #6 Love My Style, #10 Beamonesque
Race 9
Race Summary: YANNAKIS showed good pace on the Polytrack last time and did well to earn. But he is at his best at Hollywoodbets Scottsville and could be a big player this time. WHEREVERILAYMYHAT was a bit unlucky not to beat ARVERNI PRINCESS last time. He is overdue and could finally get his head in front. But ARVERNI PRINCESS could again hold him off as she should benefit from a 2.5kg apprentice claim this time. KAAPSE KLOPSE gave signs he could be coming back to form last time. If NIGHT TIGER shows his best form he could be very dangerous too.
Selections:
#9 Yannakis, #11 Night Tiger, #5 Whereverilaymyhat, #6 Arverni Princess
Best Win: #5 THOUGHT CONTROL
Best Value Bet: #9 YANNAKIS
Best Longshot: #9 YANNAKIS
