Greyville - Tuesday, 18 November

Racecourse : Greyville
Racecourse : Greyville Picture: goldcircle.co.za

Race 1
Race Summary:
PRIORY TERRACE has flattered to deceive over 1200m but a return to this shorter trip on turf could be what she's looking for. MYSTIC DANCER runs well over this distance and won't need to improve much on an encouraging comeback effort to play a leading role. COCCOLINA and returning BELL OF ANGELUS have shown enough to make their presence felt too. MALSHANA MOU and SOL E SOMBRA have scope to improve so should not be taken lightly either. Watch the betting on newcomer TENET.

Selections:

#7 Priory Terrace, #4 Mystic Dancer, #10 Tenet, #1 Coccolina

Race 2
Race Summary:
ERIC'S LEGACY was backed when running on to finish an eye-catching 2nd on debut over this trip and with that experience to count on, will be hard to beat if confirming that promise. RUNTHRUTHEJUNGLE and WAR EMPEROR should also have more to offer after much-needed introductions. Recently gelded WINDING POWER also has scope to improve as a gelding. However, a bigger threat to the selection will likely come from well-bred newcomer LOVECOMESKNOCKING. Watch the betting for clues!

Selections:

#1 Eric's Legacy, #5 War Emperor, #4 William Of Orange, #7 Angel Boy J

Race 3
Race Summary:
DOUBLE CAUSEWAY did not go unnoticed when staying on from a long way back to finish 5th on debut over 1200m from a wide draw. On the evidence of that performance and with that experience to count on, he should appreciate this extended trip and a favourable inside gate so could represent the value. GREATEST HIT and BOURBON'S BEAST have the form and experience to fight out the finish. Newcomer NORIEGA is attractively bred and could have a say too, especially if the market speaks in his favour.

Selections:

#7 Greatest Hit, #5 Noriega, #10 Bourbon's Beast, #4 Dead Poets Society

Race 4
Race Summary:
Progressive GREEN GLOW was a runaway winner of a 1600m maiden and remains open to any amount of improvement over this extended trip. Stablemate INDUSTRIALSTRENGTH stretches out to this trip for the first time but riding arrangements suggest the former is the pick of the yard's coupling. MASTER DU ROUVRAY fits a similar profile and is probably ahead of the handicapper. BAD MEDICINE and HIGH QUEUE are closely matched on recent form - both have the means to stake a claim.

Selections:

#3 Green Glow, #2 Master Du Rouvray, #6 Bad Medicine, #4 Total Surrender

Race 5
Race Summary:
SIESTA SUNSET and BUTTERCUP BABY acquitted themselves well off career-high marks last time. Both will appreciate this ease in grade so should remain competitive at this level off unchanged ratings. ICY LANCASTER has found form and consistency recently and should make her presence felt too. LIGHT OF GABRIEL and TREASURE ISLAND have scope to improve and should not be taken lightly back over this shorter trip. MOVING IN is not underestimated either off her career-low mark.

Selections:

#7 Buttercup Baby, #1 Icy Lancaster, #10 Moving In, #5 Light Of Gabriel

Race 6
Race Summary:
MAJOR TOMMIE finished ahead of FUTURE FLO and DONQUERARI in a recent 1000m Polytrack meeting and should confirm his superiority. They are closely matched on these terms but the selection remains open to improvement in just his 8th outing. ICY BLAST and VIHAAN'S WEB return from respective absences but have shown enough to be competitive. MAPHAKA and LICENCE TO THRILL are also capable of getting into the picture.

Selections:

#8 Major Tommie, #6 Future Flo, #3 Donquerari, #4 Icy Blast

Race 7
Race Summary:
CONVOCATION made a winning start for this stable over 1400m on the Polytrack and this shorter trip under a 2-point penalty is not likely to prevent another forward showing. However, preference is for hat-trick seeking TARA STAR who made light of a career-high mark when winning over 1200m after a break. She would have tightened up since and is effective over this trip. Last-start winner CAPTAIN'S CHRISTY, runner-up WINTER RAINFALL and VISION TO ACHIEVE (4th) are closely matched on recent form and likely to be in the thick of things once more.

Selections:

#5 Convocation, #11 Captain's Christy, #3 Perfume Power

Race 8
Race Summary:
EXOCET bounced back to winning ways over this trip last month and a resultant 6-point penalty is not likely to halt his momentum. SMORGASBORD, KINSHIN SHA and MAR DEL PLATA are weighted to pose a threat. However, course-and-distance debut winner COWBOY COUNTRY and lightly raced POSITION OF POWER could make life most difficult for the selection, as both remain open to improvement after respective breaks. RAFA'S BOY and LUNELUCK complete the shortlist.

Selections:

#5 Position Of Power, #9 Rafa's Boy, #7 Luneluck

Race 9
Race Summary:
ARVERNI PRINCESS has won both outings this season and is capable of completing the hat-trick under another lenient 2-point penalty. WHEREVERILAYMYHAT renews rivalry on better terms and is weighted to fight out the finish, as is familiar foe CAPPELLINO. Last-start winner FATE OF FORTUNE, improving maiden winner AUSTRIAN BEAUTY, rejuvenated NAVAJO DANCER, the latter's stablemate PRANKSTER, and hard-knocker MASK ON also have the means to get involved. Class-droppers NIGHT TIGER and TRAFALGAR SQUARE are not underestimated either. Go wide in exotics.

Selections:

#2 Arverni Princess, #4 Fate Of Fortune, #3 Navajo Dancer, #10 Cappellino
