Race 1
Race Summary: OBJET D' ART and FOX ON THE RUN have plenty going for them and could fight it out. The former has sprinted well over 1000m and should make improvement over the extra. He should have the run of the race from gate one. FOX ON THE RUN races for a stable in good form and should come on nicely after his learning experience over the track and trip yielded a fair second place. Watch out for ONE CAPE who got going at the end of his second start to earn. FAST TRAIN also showed potential and more can be expected. SOMMERSTERN and DAY IN DAY OUT can also take home money.
Selections:
#4 Fox On The Run, #1 Objet D' Art, #10 One Cape, #7 Fast Train
Race 2
Race Summary: The one to watch could be FREEDOM FIGHTER who showed promise in KwaZulu-Natal when making his debut there. The Vercingetorix/Jet Master colt has drawn well on his seasonal return. MADRA RUA came in for big betting support on debut but didn't shine. Watch for big improvement from the son of Frankel. SLIVER OF SUNSHINE caught the eye showing good pace on debut and is another that should be right there at the business end. UMZINGELI WENYATHI has fair Highveld form and must be respected even if having drawn wide.
Selections:
#4 Freedom Fighter, #3 Madra Rua, #6 Sliver Of Sunshine, #10 Umzingeli Wenyathi
Race 3
Race Summary: Most are trying the trip for the first time, so it could be wide open. KEEP WARM is by What A Winter and she is out of a female line with lots of stamina, so she could be well placed. Her stable companions CHICKASAW and LA PATRONA are not out of it on form. The former has been sprinting well and yet should be more suited to this type of distance. CLOUDS CLEARING has been staying on in her races over shorter. She has drawn well and may get the race run to suit. RED STATE and ALESSIA ASHEVILLE are older runners that could take advantage.
Selections:
#1 Keep Warm, #4 Chickasaw, #2 Clouds Clearing, #9 Red State
Race 4
Race Summary: VIVA LA VIDA confirmed the promise she showed when winning her maiden by following up in a strong Class 4 handicap. She should keep improving and has the best draw after a rest. WANDER DUNE could be anything over the distance. She too has shown ability and could make amends after being beaten as favourite last time. DIAMOND BOMBER ran a decent race after a rest and stripping fitter could mount a serious challenge. RIKKITIKKITAVI is a lightly raced four-year-old that has sprinted well and could now be looking for the extra.
Selections:
#1 Viva La Vida, #6 Wander Dune, #7 Diamond Bomber, #5 Rikkitikkitavi
Race 5
Race Summary: Not an easy lower division sprint handicap. EASY LIVING ran a fair race in her penultimate before running unplaced over the course and distance. She has drawn well and is worth another go. COUNTRY TIME ran out an easy winner after a rest and then had excuses last time. She could bounce back. GRAVITY has been tough to follow. He didn't go well from a wide draw last time but needs to be respected from a decent gate. LIFE GOES ON took on stronger on local debut. He should improve. CHAMPAGNE MAC is one of many that can upset.
Selections:
#1 Easy Living, #3 Gravity, #9 Country Time, #5 Life Goes On
Race 6
Race Summary: Cracking A Stakes Sprint field with most looking to upcoming features. RAVEN BLACK won his last four on the Highveld and is obviously a smart sort. He has drawn well and could make a decent local debut. The best weighted runner is MAI SENSATION who has won here and is one from one over the distance. ZIYASHA is a specialist over this distance and boasts some high-class performances. KAIBOY's form has worked out well and a 4kg apprentice claim could see him prove dangerous. UN BEL DI (light weight) and ARCTIC WIZARD should be right there too.
Selections:
#2 Raven Black, #4 Kaiboy, #5 Mai Sensation, #3 Un Bel Di
Race 7
Race Summary: The two three-year-olds, DU MAURIER and QUEEN REGENT, look to have big claims. The former has had a few excuses and could be ready for a strong showing. She should prefer the longer sprint. QUEEN REGENT showed good resolve in fending off challengers last time and is open to further improvement on handicap debut. EASY MONEY should make things tough. She has been knocking hard and did look dangerous the last time she raced over the distance. OCTOBER FEST (4kg claim) and ROYAL LYTHAM have drawn wide but could get luck in running.
Selections:
#4 Du Maurier, #7 Queen Regent, #6 Easy Money, #8 October Fest
Race 8
Race Summary: NORDIC QUEST was in good nick before a break. She is best weighted but will need to get the timing right from the widest stall. BABELICIOUS has been off for a bit longer but is a consistent filly that had excuses in her last start. She could come out firing. FESTIVAL CHIC and KYALAMI GIRL have race fitness in their armoury and could be dangerous even if dropping in distance. ARTISTE is back home after some decent runs on the Highveld. She has Richard Fourie in the irons and must be respected along with PINK PIGEON who has not run out the money at this venue.
Selections:
#10 Nordic Quest, #5 Babelicious, #6 Festival Chic, #2 Artiste
Race 9
Race Summary: Big, competitive bunch meet and it should produce a thrilling finish. Get your TAB Quartet bets on. GIMMIE RULES was hampered on his seasonal return. He is a horse with plenty of scope and could show his true ability. ONE LINER also had things go wrong when finishing behind GIMMIE RULES. He has much in his favour and should be in the firing line this time. Watch out for CHURCHILLIAN who has shown class. He has been gelded and races for a yard in hot form. STEADFAST flew up to win his last start and has drawn well again. More in it.
Selections:
#6 Gimmie Rules, #1 One Liner, #9 Churchillian, #2 Steadfast
Best Win: #4 FREEDOM FIGHTER
Best Value Bet: #1 KEEP WARM
Best Longshot: #1 KEEP WARM
