Race 1
Race Summary: CAPTAIN CLEVER ran some fair races in KwaZulu-Natal. He should do well on local debut trying blinkers for the first time. PLAYMAKER did not show much on debut but does have Richard Fourie aboard so could improve. PIBE DE ORO has not finished off his races so it is of no surprise that blinkers have been reached for but he did not shine with this equipment earlier in his career. STAND UP is threatening to win a race and can do so if given a soft lead this time. RIVER FERN is better than the last run would suggest and could be a threat.
Selections:
#3 Captain Clever, #5 River Fern, #2 Pibe De Oro, #4 Stand Up
Race 2
Race Summary: AMANATTO ran a decent race from a bad draw last time out. She has improved with blinkers and should make a bold bid at scoring from this draw. ROYAL MERMAID was unreliable in KwaZulu-Natal but will probably like this shorter distance and could be a threat on local debut. GENOVEFA and OCEAN FLAME are capable of vast improvement on their local debuts. ELUSIVE BOMBA is improving and would not be a surprise winner.
Selections:
#1 Royal Mermaid, #3 Amanatto, #7 Elusive Bomba, #4 Genovefa
Race 3
Race Summary: SILVA CITY was not disgraced in a better race than this last time out. She won well on handicap debut before that and can bounce back to beat these rivals. SPEED RACER is not reliable but is also capable of running well in a race like this. MASKED VIGILANTE showed a return to form last time out and likes the Polytrack so should be a threat. DONNY TEE, SWISS WALT and HAIR TRIGGER are all capable of getting involved with the finish.
Selections:
#2 Silva City, #3 Masked Vigilante, #1 Speed Racer, #4 Donny Tee
Race 4
Race Summary: A very open leg of the Pick 6 and a wide spread of runners is advised. HOME REEF has shown good improvement of late but might need luck in running over this course and distance. MASTER FORESTER is consistent and has a place chance. FEW DOLLARS MORE may have just needed his local debut and can do better. HEEMSTEDE has won both his starts on this surface and could be a threat. GEORGE HANDEL is at the top of his game but does run earlier in the week so that run will need to be looked at. LOTUS ISLAND and ROLL OF THE DICE could also be included.
Selections:
#9 Home Reef, #5 George Handel, #2 Few Dollars More, #3 Heemstede
Race 5
Race Summary: WISHES AND DREAMS is improving and was an easy winner last time. That runner-up has won since then and this does look a modest race so she may well be better than these rivals. CHRONICLESOFNANIA is in good shape and should be right there at the finish yet again. TAKE YOUR TIME takes a while to find her stride in the straight but can be a threat once again. VOORSMAAKIE, DUCHESS OF SEVILLE and COLORAMA are capable of earning some money.
Selections:
#4 Wishes And Dreams, #5 Chroniclesofnania, #6 Take Your Time, #8 Colorama
Race 6
Race Summary: BIG BOY BRUCE was not disgraced on local debut. He should strip fitter and could score this time. DOWSER is not reliable but did run well last time out and could be a lively danger. IGUGULETHU is clearly better than his last run and could contest the finish. READY is in good form and is clearly not out of it. Stable companions BEECHAMWOOD BOY and COASTAL PATH are both recent winners and are capable of scoring again. GRAND ALLEGRO is back on the Polytrack and has a place chance.
Selections:
#7 Big Boy Bruce, #5 Beechamwood Boy, #6 Coastal Path, #4 Ready
Race 7
Race Summary: MERCANTOUR has won three of his last four starts and has every chance of winning again. This course and distance suits him well. GOLDEN LINK has ability but this is a tough race. YAMADORI has run well on this surface and could be the surprise package of the race. GUY GIBSON lost on local debut at a very short price but can make amends on best form. THE AFRICA HOUSE won well on local debut and is not out of it. USA'S HOPE, CHAMPONELLE and EYJAFJALLAJOKULL are all capable of taking home some prize money.
Selections:
#1 Mercantour, #4 Guy Gibson, #5 Usa's Hope, #6 The Africa House
Race 8
Race Summary: A competitive last race. THUNDER MASTER is threatening a win with three runner-up performances in a row and can go one better over a course and distance that suits. WISSA'S ON FIRE was not disgraced on local debut and could have more to offer. ROTOTO could be the surprise package of the race over this track and distance. PRINCE ANTONIO and MANEKI NEKO have both shown a liking for the Polytrack and hold claims. ICE CAP and KING'S SAILOR are both capable of earning some minor money.
Selections:
#1 Thunder Master, #4 Prince Antonio, #6 Maneki Neko, #8 Ice Cap
Best Win: #1 MERCANTOUR
Best Value Bet:
Best Longshot: #7 BIG BOY BRUCE
