Race 1
Race Summary: Exciting race to start, most are newcomers bred to fly. COWBOY COUNTRY is a United States half-brother to speedster Pistol Pete while BLAZING FURY is a half-brother to well-performed Donquerari and Cape Fillies Guineas winner Mississippi Burning. RUNTHRUTHEJUNGLE and TASK FORCE also have pedigrees full of quality and BOMBARDIER BOY is bred to be speedy too. Follow the betting moves closely.
Selections:
#2 Cowboy Country, #4 Blazing Fury, #7 Runthruthejungle, #6 Bombardier Boy
Race 2
Race Summary: More first-timers to consider. Gimmethegreenlight debutante LOVECOMESKNOCKING was a R1.9M purchase and she won't need to be at the top of her game to win. LUTHANDO is by Hawwaam who has already made an impact as a stallion. PERFUME POWER has shown the speed needed to win over the distance. She finished well ahead of LOU LOU but the latter has subsequently improved and it could get close. CAPTAIN VENTURA came in for support but tired out of it on debut. She can make solid improvement.
Selections:
#3 Perfume Power, #5 Lou Lou, #8 Captain Ventura, #6 Lovecomesknocking
Race 3
Race Summary: Ultra-consistent TRIPPING THUNDER didn't let the team down, earning even though running in a competitive race after a rest last time. He can go close stripping fitter. RAFA'S BOY is in good form and has finished ahead of TRAFALGAR SQUARE and JET LEGACY who subsequently won a thriller in his last start. RAFA'S BOY has drawn well and could confirm the form. TRAFALGAR SQUARE didn't behave last time but could be dangerous on best form. POETIC PRINCESS and BLESS ME FRED are holding form and should be right there.
Selections:
#7 Tripping Thunder, #1 Rafa's Boy, #8 Poetic Princess, #4 Trafalgar Square
Race 4
Race Summary: The Mike and Mathew de Kock father/son training combination could have a stranglehold on this race with their two three-year-olds BUDDY BOY and SUNNYBILLS FERRARI. The former made good progress at the end of his debut sprint and gives the impression he would prefer the extra distance. He could be the stable elect with Callan Murray up. SUNNYBILLS FERRARI knows the bend as he made progress over 1400m at this venue last time and has drawn well. He has in-form rider Sean Veale in the irons. TEE DOG is better than his last run and looks a danger along with improving HAMILTON HERO.
Selections:
#8 Buddy Boy, #4 Sunnybills Ferrari, #3 Hamilton Hero, #1 Tee Dog
Race 5
Race Summary: DAWN TILL DUSK may not be best weighted but was a gutsy winner over the course and distance last time and the form was franked straight after. TWO MILES WEST and ACTOR are joint best weighted and both must have claims on their last performances. The former is a strong frontrunner with a solid record over the distance. Lightly raced ACTOR won his maiden at this course and last time was beaten in a close finish on the Polytrack. He is returning from a break. UZWANO was on a roll before becoming one paced last time. He could be looking for a faster pace. GIMMEANOTHERCHANCE is capable too.
Selections:
#4 Dawn Till Dusk, #1 Two Miles West, #3 Uzwano, #5 Actor
Race 6
Race Summary: GOTTA GO EDDIE acquitted himself well, finishing runner-up on handicap debut. He did what was required when winning his maiden and looks to be going about it the right way. AFRICAN DUSK was beaten in a close finish in a higher grade last time. He should have every chance even though carded to carry top weight. Watch out for RAGNAR THE KING who is back at his best track and jumping from stall No 1. He could step up on his current form. LEXICAN POINT and PAPA C both have the potential to win more races and could be dangerous from decent draws.
Selections:
#5 Gotta Go Eddie, #9 African Dusk, #1 Ragnar The King, #2 Lexican Point
Race 7
Race Summary: DAWN SURPRISE is knocking hard at the door. She reserves her best for this racetrack and should run another decent race. BOARDWALK BREEZE got the job done to shed his maiden tag last time and the form line has been franked. He could be up to the task with improvement to come. GOLDEN ASPEN was beaten only 1.50 lengths by Sheets And Goggles on the Highveld and may be coming to best form again. The seven-year-old mare is looking for her 10th career win in her 88th start. WILLIAM WEST could suddenly show. DOUBLE OLYMPIC is another with the potential to pop up.
Selections:
#4 Boardwalk Breeze, #5 Dawn Surprise, #2 Golden Aspen, #1 William West
Race 8
Race Summary: Rested DRICUS and TURBO TWENTY are last-start winners from the Western Cape and both could be in the hunt on local debut. The former has run well from a break and is an improving, lightly raced sort. TURBO TWENTY relished 1600m in his last start and with his confidence boosted he could follow up, even if dropping in distance. VOLDEMORT is not one to take lightly. He was beaten in a close finish the last time he raced over the course and distance. DOWN BY THE RIVER and RUN FOR COVER rate as possible value propositions on best form.
Selections:
#5 Dricus, #6 Turbo Twenty, #2 Voldemort, #10 Down By The River
Best Win: #7 TRIPPING THUNDER
Best Value Bet: #4 BOARDWALK BREEZE
Best Longshot: #4 BOARDWALK BREEZE
