Greyville Picks - Wednesday, 10 September

Race 1
Race Summary:
Both LITTLE CRACKER and SOVEREIGN COMMAND have had their chances but with a bit of luck either can open its account. The former has the better draw but needs to time his run right. The latter got the upper hand the last time they met. He has a wide draw but has finished well. CAPTAIN FRANK is the unknown quantity first time on the Polytrack. He is by One World out of a Frankel mare and has shown pace on the Highveld. STAR FALL and XIPHOS showed some pace last time and could be headed for prize money.

Selections:

#11 Sovereign Command, #4 Little Cracker, #12 Captain Frank, #9 Star Fall

Race 2
Race Summary:
ILHA DA ORANGE is back after almost two months off. She has been in good form and can notch up her next career win. ON BOARD looks a big threat. She didn't get the best of starts when not beaten far by ILHA DA ORANGE and must be taken seriously at the revised weight terms. GREENLIGHT QUEEN made good improvement tried over 1400m last time but was an easy winner over this distance. She can improve on her earlier try on the surface as she has drawn a lot better this time. MOUNTAINSOFTHEMOON and JANE'S VISION are in good nick and need to be considered too.

Selections:

#2 Ilha Da Orange, #6 On Board, #1 Greenlight Queen, #4 Mountainsofthemoon

Race 3
Race Summary:
Not a strong field and Dean Kannemeyer-trained filly PEGGY SUE SHAKE could take advantage. She didn't run too badly on debut when not getting the best of starts and is open to good improvement. ON SONG hasn't disgraced herself in all three starts. She looks to have needed time and can make a decent Poly debut. SAUDI SWEEP is the older runner with definite claims on form. She has run some decent races and could make a winning debut for her new yard. CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT (draw No 1) and CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS aren't without claims either.

Selections:

#6 Peggy Sue Shake, #5 On Song, #4 Saudi Sweep, #1 Chimes At Midnight

Race 4
Race Summary:
It might be the right race for DEE DAY to finally get it right. The Lancaster Bomber mare found her last race a bit strong but finished second before that and has the best of the draws now. SALLY PORT did well against males last time and has met decent sorts in all three starts. She looks to have the pace to overcome her slightly wide barrier position. RED LHASA needed her last start and should come on with the run even if having drawn widest. She could prefer the longer trip. JUMPTHEGREENLIGHT and SKIPPER O'MALLEY have been disappointing but both could pop up in a race like this.

Selections:

#7 Sally Port, #1 Dee Day, #10 Red Lhasa, #6 Jumpthegreenlight

Race 5
Race Summary:
SKYTRIX lost a bit of zip recently but is back over her best track and trip and could pop up. She has the best of the draws. POURSOMESUGARONME was no match for JAZZ CAFE but didn't disgrace herself. She is a Poly specialist and could prove to be a much bigger threat this time. JAZZ CAFE had something in hand when well backed and rates the dark horse first time on Poly. QHAWEKAZI has run well on this surface and having dropped in ratings must be respected. She has drawn well also. ETHEREAL VIEW, LINE IN THE SKY and SCHIPOLE have earning potential too.

Selections:

#2 Qhawekazi, #8 Jazz Cafe, #6 Poursomesugaronme, #1 Skytrix

Race 6
Race Summary:
LADY OF VIX, with just 51.5kg, heads the best-weighted column. She is quick and if taking to the Poly could be hard to catch. PRINCESS HANNAH is unbeaten in three tries over the course and distance including a win over high-class males. She looks a big threat again. HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE has been a tough horse to bring back to best. He has talent and is one from one over the course and distance. CONNERY is better than his recent form and if in the right mood could be stubborn up front. If MR HENLEY doesn't find this too short, he should be right there. MOJO MAN is holding form and has drawn well.

Selections:

#1 Mr Henley, #7 Princess Hannah, #5 Hithemhardsunshine, #2 Mojo Man

Race 7
Race Summary:
Another competitive event. RAINBOW REWARD is holding form well and would be deserving. He has run with stronger and should relish the drop in class. If TRIPPI T is anywhere near ready after a rest he could be hard to catch. The ultra-consistent runner has run well on both turf and Poly. ISIKWISHIKWISHI hasn't drawn well and may have to play second fiddle again. But he definitely has more wins in the tank. IBUTHO cannot be discounted either. He was in good form before a break. More with earning potential to consider.

Selections:

#8 Rainbow Reward, #2 Trippi T, #7 Isikwishikwishi, #4 Ibutho

Race 8
Race Summary:
BANK STREET finally got back to winning ways and with his confidence boosted can follow up. He should have every chance from a favourable draw. MVELELO was beaten in a close call over 1400m in his penultimate start. He could be even more effective over the shorter trip. UNICORN ALERT should have notched up another win by now. He has the form to prove dangerous if his first try on the surface. VIVA SPIRIT and HIPPOCRATES could take home prizes on best form. EMOYENI won his maiden well enough to suggest there is more to come.

Selections:

#3 Bank Street, #5 Mvelelo, #4 Unicorn Alert, #8 Emoyeni

Best Win: #3 BANK STREET

Best Value Bet: #2 QHAWEKAZI

Best Longshot: #2 QHAWEKAZI
