Scottsville Picks - Wednesday, 30 July

Racecourse : Scottsville
Racecourse : Scottsville Picture: goldcircle.co.za

Race 1
Race Summary:
Rafeef filly WATER HYACINTH has consistent form and should run another decent race. She has drawn well. DE VLUGGE has the best draw but is racing after a lengthy layoff. SPINMYANGELSSPIN brings fair Western Cape form into it but she also might need it on her return. WHAT A PASSION finished second to a classy sort in her last start but has drawn widest. FASCINATION is improving. She was right there with a 4kg apprentice claim last time and could be dangerous. Well backed EBISU wasn't far off her on debut and has room for good improvement.

Selections:

#3 Water Hyacinth, #9 What A Passion, #7 Ebisu, #6 Fascination

Race 2
Race Summary:
MAJOR TOMMIE came in for solid support last time but lacked extra in the closing stages. He should be at peak in his third run after a rest and gelding. LADY OF VIX impressed with a start to finish win beating the former as well as JET LEGACY. She could do so again as she is best weighted. The latter, however, is down 12.5kg from 64kg to 51.5kg and needs to be taken seriously. He has a good record over the course and distance. It doesn't end there. MOJO MAN has pole position and appears a lot better than what he has shown at this venue to date. KALAHARI ROLLER has met stronger.

Selections:

#1 Mojo Man, #3 Major Tommie, #2 Jet Legacy, #6 Lady Of Vix

Race 3
Race Summary:
MISS LADYATERIX tried the Polytrack and ran a bit below par. She wasn't far off SOHOT SOWHAT from a wide draw in her penultimate start and must have a chance of turning the form around at the weights. SOHOT SOWHAT has very good form in sprints and could return to winning ways after a stint over further. CONVOCATION has beaten Soho Star and overall has a good record at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. After running a cracker on the Poly she must be given every chance. BLUE HOLLY (light weight) and CAPTAIN'S CHRISTY cannot be ignored either.

Selections:

#4 Miss Ladyaterix, #3 Sohot Sowhat, #1 Convocation, #6 Blue Holly

Race 4
Race Summary:
ECHO races for a stable in good form. She confirmed recent improvement on the Poly and back on turf should have a winning chance. PROMISE OF FIRE was a bit disappointing over this distance but has previously shown some potential. She may improve with a change of tactics. HARPA is two-year-old filly by Erik The Red that has been steadily improving. It could be the right race for her to challenge for the win. All of SHEEZAROCKET, TAKATALVI, DEE DAY and SKIPPER O'MALLEY have shown the potential to feature. More can improve.

Selections:

#10 Echo, #5 Harpa, #9 Promise Of Fire, #4 Skipper O'malley

Race 5
Race Summary:
GURKHA looks to have come to hand now and could finally score over 1600m. He produced a solid finish on the Poly over 2000m and the form has been franked. But it is quite competitive. HARUN AL RASHID finally gets a decent draw. He impressed in his penultimate and if not minding the drop in trip could notch up his next win. FRENCH TRIP was beaten in a close finish last time. He prefers the track and must be in with a say. Watch out for MY BOY LOLLIPOP who has not enjoyed the Poly. He could suddenly show his best. GLOBAL MOVEMENT is one of many that can threaten.

Selections:

#5 Harun Al Rashid, #3 Gurkha, #7 My Boy Lollipop, #4 French Trip

Race 6
Race Summary:
Probably the toughest race and it may pay to go wide in exotics. TROIS TROIS QUATRE was a bit unlucky not to win his last start at this venue. The only chink in his armour is that he can jump a bit slow. ARVERNI KING has finished ahead of the former. He didn't show in the Gold Vase but a lot more can be expected over this distance. Four-year-old filly PLUM PUDDING is in top form and going for three wins on the bounce. She should have every chance. VIEW OF THE WORLD and ROYAL INVITATION have run some decent races recently and cannot be ignored.

Selections:

#7 Arverni King, #5 Trois Trois Quatre, #2 Plum Pudding, #1 View Of The World

Race 7
Race Summary:
ROSH KEDESH has much in his favour. He was an easy winner over the course and distance in his penultimate and also ran well on the Poly straight after. DAWN TILL DUSK needed his local debut run when not far off KITCHAKAL and much more can be expected over 1400m. KITCHAKAL loves this track and as he is in the form of his life can be expected to run another decent race. Watch out for THE SHEPHERD who is unbeaten in two starts over the course and distance. He does carry a big weight. Most have earning potential.

Selections:

#1 Rosh Kedesh, #3 Dawn Till Dusk, #6 Kitchakal, #7 The Shepherd

Race 8
Race Summary:
FORWARD MOTION loves this track and is looking to follow up after a confidence boosting frontrunning win. IZIBULO has a chance of turning early form around with FORWARD MOTION. She ran a decent race back from a break and should prefer the track and trip. GETOFFOFMYCLOUD races for a stable in hot form and after needing her last start could come on in leaps and bounds. SIGN OF FATE is knocking hard at the door. Both career wins were on the turf but her first Polytrack win can't be far off. AMONG THE CLOUDS, LA MADDALENA and BEAUTIFUL RANIA have earning potential.

Selections:

#9 Izibulo, #8 Forward Motion, #10 Getoffofmycloud, #4 Sign Of Fate
