Fairview Picks - Friday, 25 July

Race 1
Race Summary:
An interesting opening race. GARDEN SUN was found to be not striding out when a disappointing fifth. He tries even further this time. He was in good form before that. INCENDIARY should like this longer distance and could show vast improvement. GLOBAL SCENE made good late progress last time so should like this distance. SEMPRE BELLA improved on the Polytrack but could have more to offer. COSMIC CLIFFS showed some improvement and is another that can contest the finish.

Selections:

#1 Garden Sun, #5 Global Scene, #6 Sempre Bella, #4 Incendiary

Race 2
Race Summary:
More was expected from BEACH QUEEN but she appeared to hate the Polytrack. She is better than that run suggests and can bounce back to beat these rivals. GENTEEL is not reliable but can contest the finish. AMANATTO needed the last run on the Polytrack and should be a threat back on the grass. JUST FOR U is holding form and is clearly not out of it. BATTLE OF BRITAIN did not show on the Polytrack and could surprise on the turf.

Selections:

#2 Beach Queen, #3 Amanatto, #4 Just For U, #1 Genteel

Race 3
Race Summary:
MR FOX seemed to be undone by a slow pace last time. He was very impressive in his penultimate start which was on the grass and he can bounce back to score. DOWSER put in a very good effort last time and can contest the finish again. LAGUNA VERDE has not shown his best form of late but is capable of better. GREEN MANDARIN has been unlucky twice in a row and looks likely to contest the finish this time. HAARLEM is in good form and would not be a surprise winner.

Selections:

#4 Mr Fox, #2 Dowser, #5 Green Mandarin, #7 Haarlem

Race 4
Race Summary:
RED WILLIAM is in good shape. He was a winner when last on the grass and can win again. ALADO'S PRIDE and GEORGE HANDEL are both coming off improved performances and could be ready to score. CHEERFUL CHARLIE B only tired last time and his yard is in good form so he might earn some money. COURAGEOUS is rarely too far behind and can get involved with the finish again.

Selections:

#4 Red William, #8 Courageous, #6 Cheerful Charlie B, #3 George Handel

Race 5
Race Summary:
A very competitive sprint and it might pay to go very wide in this leg of the Pick 6. DUBAI HILLS has been good on the Polytrack of late and has also won on the turf. KING'S RANSOM and SONG OF MYSELF both seem better than their last runs. WHATEVER NEXT and MASKED VIGILANTE are also capable of winning a race like this over a track and distance that suits them.

Selections:

#2 Dubai Hills, #1 Pas De Nom, #4 King's Ransom, #5 Song Of Myself

Race 6
Race Summary:
A very competitive race. KING PRAWN showed improvement when quickening nicely late last time. He does have stable jockey Richard Fourie in the irons and that suggests he may be the strongest Alan Greeff-trained entrant for this race. READY is decent and continues to improve so could make all. ARLU was not disgraced last time and could like this distance. BAROLO seems a lot better than her last run and could be the surprise package. ROYAL CITY GIRL and STAR OF ELENA have both hinted they have ability and are worth considering.

Selections:

#2 King Prawn, #3 Ready, #5 Barolo, #9 Star Of Elena

Race 7
Race Summary:
A very competitive looking race. HAPPY HOLLY has been a bitter disappointment of late but it could be worth ignoring her last run on a soft track. SWEETIE DARLING has won her last two starts and there have been winners out of both those races. THREE ROCKS has not shown her best of late but is capable of an upset. Stable companion ELLORIX has been consistent and is clearly not out of it. GIMME'S LASSIE is track-and-distance suited so should fight out the finish. RED SASH has been better over further of late but could play a minor role.

Selections:

#5 Happy Holly, #7 Sweetie Darling, #3 Gimme's Lassie, #4 Ellorix

Race 8
Race Summary:
A tough card and a very open looking last race. WINTER WARFARE did not show his form in a feature race last time and could be better than rated. BEECHAMWOOD BOY is threatening to win a race for trainer Alan Greeff. IMAGINABLE was an easy winner on local debut and could have more to offer. SWEET AND TRUE and MY AMI BEACH are both course and distance suited. VEGAS HI RISE and MIGHTY MAC all make their local debuts and would not be surprise winners.

Selections:

#9 Winter Warfare, #6 Vegas Hi Rise, #2 Imaginable, #1 Beechamwood Boy
