Greyville Picks - Wednesday, 13 November

Racecourse : Greyville (South Africa)
Racecourse : Greyville (South Africa) Picture: ThoroughbredNews

Race 1
Race Summary: PRINCESS GOLDIE has produced two decent efforts on turf. She could prefer a bit further but may also come on trying the poly. MISTRESS REBECCA could be the one to watch. She is well-related and may have improved during a layoff after her debut. CHAKPORI did well after a slow start last time. She has decent form and should not be a maiden for much longer. HEAD GIRL has been costly. She has run well on too many occasions without producing a finish. Debutante LADY SMALLWOOD won't have to be too good to win it.

Selections:
#1 Princess Goldie, #3 Mistress Rebecca, #7 Chakpori, #4 Head Girl

Race 2
Race Summary: WAR EMPRESS had issues last time and that run is best ignored. She has been given gate one again and may step up on her form. Watch out for GREY FANTACY. She showed fair potential earlier in her career and may prefer the poly. JANE'S VISION suddenly found top form and if in the same mood can follow up. ARVERNI PRINCESS ran some fair races before a break. If not in need of it she could be right there. SWEET JULIA had no luck from a wide draw last time. She could bounce back to form here. More can earn.

Selections:
#1 War Empress, #7 Grey Fantacy, #5 Jane's Vision, #6 Arverni Princess

Race 3
Race Summary: Competitive start to the Pick 6. STAR OF THE FUTURE is going about it the right way and could open his account from gate one. GIMMETHEGOODLIFE shows good pace and may go well on his poly debut even if trying further. FORTUNE HUNTER has shown potential and now gelded could make the required improvement. SEE MY FUTURE is another well-bred sort that should get better with time. He should also enjoy more ground in time. RICHARDTHEFEARLESS, CHILI BOMB and LIGHTNINGFORK all seem capable of better.

Selections:
#4 Gimmethegoodlife, #1 Star Of The Future, #8 Fortune Hunter, #3 See My Future

Race 4
Race Summary: KING BAVARIAN has been knocking hard on both turf and poly. He could get rewarded as he has drawn well. LUCRETIUS impressed when winning his penultimate on turf. He was a better horse on the poly earlier and now back in form needs to be taken seriously. Three-year-old MR HOTSTEPPER won his maiden in good style and the form has worked out well. He could be better than rated. WAVE WARRIOR is consistent but has his work cut out from the widest gate. ANIMAL IMPACT hasn't had the best of luck recently but has dropped in ratings.

Selections:
#6 Mr Hotstepper, #2 King Bavarian, #1 Lucretius, #8 Wave Warrior

Race 5
Race Summary: KISSHOTEN is better than her last run on the turf. She won a nice race on the poly in her penultimate but it could get close with DOCTOR'S ORDERS on collateral form. The latter could continue winning ways on the poly. She won two in a row on the surface before running a decent race on turf. WAY TO BURN looks to have something to come. She was a good second behind Ethereal View last time but looks in need of this distance. SUMMER SONG needed her last start. The poly specialist could be hard to get to this time. GREEN VALKYRIE should be there if seeing out the distance.

Selections:
#4 Way To Burn, #1 Kisshoten, #3 Summer Song, #5 Doctor's Orders

Race 6
Race Summary: VOLDEMORT ran a fair race last time and had WINTER WAVES, BUGALUGS and SAVANTRIX behind him. He should confirm and can add another win to his tally. WINTER WAVES has beaten VOLDEMORT before and he could be a threat especially if the pace is on. KNIGHT WARRIOR ran well in a lower grade last time but from gate one is never one to take lightly. IBUTHO hasn't been a threat of late but is very capable and needs to be watched. MASTER OF DESTINY has been in good nick on the turf and has the class to challenge for honours.

Selections:
#2 Voldemort, #3 Winter Waves, #1 Knight Warrior, #4 Ibutho

Race 7
Race Summary: CONNERY can make it four in a row. He has been in terrific form and should be hard to catch if he jumps in front again from stall one. MR MASTER STARTER produced a good finish in this difficult class last time. He enjoys the surface and should be dangerous. WILLIAM RUFUS almost caught out strong galloper Strathclyde last time and he should not go backwards even if having drawn a bit wide. COMMON GROUNDS impressed the only time he raced over the course and distance and needs to be taken seriously. More can get into it. LINDBERGH could be anything here.

Selections:
#3 Mr Master Starter, #1 Connery, #8 William Rufus, #6 Common Grounds

Race 8
Race Summary: MAC HARDY is taking his time but it could be the right race for him. STEVIE GEE is knocking hard at the door and having drawn well should have every chance. DARING ACT has yet to win in four starts on the poly but his last try was encouraging. PHAKA IMALI wasn't far off from a slightly wide stall and has now been given gate one. He could take advantage. PURPLE POWAHOUSE has been costly but he needed his last run and could finally show up from a decent gate.

Selections:
#5 Mac Hardy, #3 Stevie Gee, #7 Daring Act, #1 Phaka Imali

Best Win: #2 VOLDEMORT
Best Value Bet: #5 MAC HARDY
Best Longshot: #5 MAC HARDY
