Race 1
Race Summary: Good 2yo race to start. Well-bred debut winner AIR RAID and last-start scorer WORLDLY opened their accounts on yielding ground over 1200m and will be competitive with improvement on the cards, especially on predicted rain-softened ground. It could, however, pay to side with the latter's stable companion WORLDCRAFT (filly receiving 2.5kg sex allowance) who built on the promise of her debut 4th against winners to score over 1000m, beating a subsequent wide-margin winner. FURIOUS QUEEN and BABELICIOUS also benefit from a 2.5kg sex allowance and have shown enough to make their presence felt too.
Selections:
#3 Worldcraft, #1 Worldly, #7 Air Raid, #5 Furious Queen
Race 2
Race Summary: Tricky. MANEKI NEKO sets the standard but has been costly to follow. His form and experience should stand him in good stead, though, so it could be worth giving him another chance. Younger rival WALK WITH ME caught the eye when running on well to finish 4th on debut in a 2yo race over track and trip against winners. He fluffed his lines over 1400m in his next/last start but has been gelded since and is open to improvement reverting to this distance. APPROACH SHOT and ACROSS THE BOW can get into the picture but well-bred newcomers PHIL THE FLUTER and MASTER INCOLOR could pose more of a threat.
Selections:
#3 Maneki Neko, #2 Walk With Me, #7 Phil The Fluter, #4 Master Incolor
Race 3
Race Summary: Tricky. TURBO TWENTY showed enough in his first 3 outings over distances from 1000m to 1400m to warrant respect on his reappearance, having been gelded following his disappointing last start. CLIFF SWALLOW and IGUGULETHU have the form/experience to get involved but they could be vulnerable to less-exposed younger rivals, including CIRCUMBENDIBUS who would've come on appreciably from his promising course-and-distance debut. WE HAVE TOUCHDOWN and GREEN OKRA improved with a run under the belt and will play leading roles if building on that progress. Watch the betting on newcomer PLEASE BE TRUE.
Selections:
#7 We Have Touchdown, #9 Green Okra, #5 Circumbendibus, #11 Please Be True
Race 4
Race Summary: GREENLAND has been costly to follow but wouldn't be winning out of turn after 2 pleasing comeback outings as a gelding. He is, however, closely matched on the form of a 1400m meeting (13 April) with GROOVEJET. The lightly raced latter has more scope for improvement and this extended trip should, given his pedigree, unlock further progress in his peak outing. APACHE CHIEF improved to finish 3rd over track and trip recently with the blinkers removed and should play a role in the finish if repeating that performance. WEHAVEASITUATION, SANSA STARK and unexposed BLACK CHERRY complete the shortlist.
Selections:
#7 Groovejet, #6 Greenland, #4 Apache Chief, #11 Black Cherry
Race 5
Race Summary: MY BESTIE overcame an awkward start and wide gate to finish an eye-catching 3rd in a stronger race over 1400m a fortnight ago and a similar performance from a favourable No 3 gate in his peak outing could bring an end to a 2-year winless run. Hard-knockers FAIRE ADVANTAGE and SHAVOUT (drawn widest) have gone nearly as long without success but remain competitive at this level so shouldn't be underestimated off their current marks. Lightly raced PRIME VENTURE has more scope than most and is likely to have a say after 2 encouraging runs after gelding. NAUSHON, FOUR JACKS and JUST VAR come next.
Selections:
#3 My Bestie, #10 Prime Venture, #2 Faire Advantage, #9 Naushon
Race 6
Race Summary: SCHOOL POLICY made a winning reappearance under an enterprising ride and, with improved fitness on her side, a 6-point penalty shouldn't halt her momentum. However, FUN ZONE ought to reverse the form of that meeting on 4.5kg better terms. PRINCESS IZZY finished 4th in back-to-back Listed races (over further) last month and deserves to be rewarded for her consistency. She will enjoy reverting to this shorter trip, over which she won the Listed Sweet Chestnut Stakes in April. On that form, ENEMY TERRITORY is unlikely to turn the tables, but SIDDELEY (3kg better off) should pose more of a threat.
Selections:
#6 Princess Izzy, #5 Siddeley, #10 Enemy Territory, #3 Fun Zone
Race 7
Race Summary: ASPECT preserved his unbeaten record this year with a 4th consecutive 1400m start-to-finish victory 8 weeks ago. A further 4-point penalty, however, could put an end to his winning streak. FIBONACCI is 2kg better off and will have that rival well within his sights, having conceded first run last time. OLIVER, on the form of their 6 April meeting, is also closely matched and should have a role to play in the finish on these revised terms. Best-weighted 3yo filly CALLMEGETRIX has proven most effective over 1400m and could be worth siding with. WAR CHARIOT and FUTURE TURN complete the shortlist.
Selections:
#8 Callmegetrix, #6 Oliver, #4 Fibonacci, #7 Future Turn
Race 8
Race Summary: TAMBOURINE MAN resumed after a 3-month break to belatedly open his account on 11 May. He ought to have tightened up since and as this isn't a particularly strong race, he should remain competitive. Preference, however, is for SHIFTING PATH whose staying-on 2nd over 1000m last time would've teed him up nicely for this drop in grade. Consistent hard-knockers WYLIE JACK and SEEKING PEACE are also capable of getting involved, while MR FROSTIE is another who could stake a claim if ready to go on his return from a 14-week absence. Lightly raced CHAMPAGNE MAC appeals most of the remainder.
Selections:
#3 Shifting Path, #2 Tambourine Man, #5 Wylie Jack, #1 Gravity
Best Win: #6 PRINCESS IZZY
Best Value Bet: #3 MY BESTIE
Best Longshot: #3 MY BESTIE
