Bransom’s consistency and upwards tragectory in the country has earned the Australian galloper his first silverware in the RM62,000 Magic Millions Horses In Training Sale Cup at Sungai Besi today.
The son of Brazen Beau was purchased for A$30,000 at the Gold Coast yearling sale and enjoyed a good first season in Singapore in 2023 with three wins in eight runs. But Bransom managed just one victory in 11 appearances last year.
However, Bransom has made tremendous progress since joining trainer Simon Dunderdale after Kranji's closure.
An easy second-up win in Class 3 was swiftly followed by another success in a Supreme A contest, both runs over 1020m on the No. 2 track.
Since then, Bransom has been contesting in top-tier races, finishing on the podium in four of five starts before his cup success today.
Super Happy and Bransom were the firsts to break but Pacific Vampire, in his usual front-running role, headed them off making the turn out of the back straight. Next came Stop The Water followed by Tau Keh Soh, Filial Dragon and Super Luck.
Pacific Vampire led into the straight from Bransom, Super Happy and Stop The Water.
Pacific Vampire kicked away soon after and led by three lengths at the 200m. But Bransom began to close the gap with every stride in the run home and surged ahead in the closing stages to win by 1-3/4 lengths. Super Luck came with a late charge to take third placing.
"Bransom is so consistent and he just loves the inside track, " said Dunderdale. "And what a good ride by Uzair (Sharudin)."
"I didn't quite expect the horse to win but the trainer (Sunderdale) the barrier draw (3) is an advantage,' said Uzair.
"So I just followed the trainer's instructions and the horse finished well."
