Yes Man followed up on two good placings last month to win the Class 3 sprint over 1020m on the No. 2 track at Sungai Besi today.
The Yes Yes Yes galloper beat the 3YO Sprint Championship winner Elite Prince over 1200m on Jun 22 but failed to see out the trip in the 3YO Mile Championship (1600m) just a week later.
His first test in Class 3 in July was disastrous, going with the pace but beat just one home over 1100m.
Yes Man showed improvement with a third-place finish last month, then found one to beat in Popeyethesailorman after setting a blistering pace over 1020m on the No. 2 track three weeks ago.
However, there was to be no mistake for Yes Man and Bernardo Pinheiro this time around.
Drawn the extreme outside barrier (11), Pinheiro managed to work his way to take the lead on settling down. Yes Man proceeded to set a brisk pace and went to the line 1-1/2 lengths clear of Colonel Son who chased home all the way home.
It's the fifth win in 15 starts for Yes Man but for Pinheiro, it was third time lucky on the gelding.
Pinheiro was beaten into second place on the gelding racing debut in September last year and he again found one to beat on Yes Man's last start.
"Yes Man has always shown good fighting spirit," said trainer Tiang Kim Choi.
"Pinheiro did a superb job overcoming the wide barrier to win. I hope to win more races with the horse."
"He (Yes Man) has been racing consistently and the stable took good care of him," said Pinheiro.
"I worked him and he has been done well in his gallops and was so fresh. So I went into the race with confidence. The trainer gave me the confidence too.
"I was happy to take a seat and watched the speed. When I asked him the horse responded.
"He is a good horse with a bright future."
Pinheiro went on to bag the next three races as well after Yes Man's win.
He scored on Hypeman for Dunderdale, Lim's Craft for Lawson Moy and War Code for Lim Shung You.
