After the Pacific Stable dominated with five winners and Lucky Magic announced himself as the new star on the Malaysian circuit in the Selangor Mile last Sunday, we revert back to normal resumption with an eleven race program at SLTC commencing at 1.00pm this Sunday.
The 1800m Stayer Stakes contest (Race 9) may not be a feature event but it does contain quality comprising of three previous Group One winners in BERRY BLISS, BIG HEARTED and SMART STAR. BERRY BLISS has done little in two runs this time in but the 2023 Penang Sprint Trophy winner seems to race best over the longer journeys nowadays and still possesses the class to remain competitive. 2020 Singapore Derby winner BIG HEARTED is yet to break the Malaysian duck in seven local runs but came close with his familiar turn of foot to miss narrowly by a neck over the mile here last Sunday.

Smart Star finally delivered a victory locally on June 22 scoring over 1400m at big odds in defeating BIG HEARTED on that occasion. However the horse they have to beat is the progressive Irish bred Latin Legend which has scored twice in five Malaysian starts. Winning at his local debut on May 4, the five year old has thrived on the local circuit with some encouraging performances culminating in a victory over the mile on July 6. LATIN LEGEND accounted for last week's Selangor Mile runner up, Good Star that day and providing those form lines stand up, he should be the horse to follow despite his first try at the 1800m.
Speaking of form lines, the recent 3YO Mile Championship could provide the barometer when calculating the chances of EVER RELIABLE and STRONG WHITE which clash in the 1700m Class 5A contest (Race 10). Both horses finished 7th and 4th respectively in the feature on June 29 with Strong White finishing the race off at a quicker rate compared to his rival. The CC Ooi trained gelding is still green at this stage of his ten start career and does tend to give away big starts in his races. However, he does possess the raw ability with his sharp turn of speed, as displayed last start when sprinting home from the rear at the 400m to finish 1.5L from the winner.
RELIABLE MAN is more of a dour stayer who scored at this track and distance earlier in the year and is by the same sire as STRONG WHITE (Reliable Man).
Another horse worth including in exotics is the Frank Maynard trained LEOPARD ECLIPSE, which has descended to a winnable rating and is looking to break the winning drought since March last year.
From the trial session here on Tuesday, three year old Bold Runner indicated he will be primed first up in the 1300m Class 4B contest (Race 6). Although the time recorded was nothing special on the sand track, BOLD RUNNER wasn't extended and looked comfortable over the 1000m trip. He will front up for the first time since May 18 and will also have the services of inform leading jockey, Andre Da Silva.
