The Selangor Turf Club roared with excitement on Sunday, 20 July as Lucky Magic, trained by HY Cheng and owned by Happy Baby Stable, surged to victory in the prestigious RM1 Million Selangor Mile.

Living up to its billing as the richest race in South East Asia, the event embodied its powerful tagline: "One Race One Million One Champion".

The atmosphere was electric as a distinguished crowd of local and international racing enthusiasts gathered for the marquee event. The day also saw an influx in attendance of racing fans and general public from all walks of life.

Among those who attended the races were High Commissioner of New Zealand, His Excellency Michael Walsh, Director of New Zealand Bloodstock, Mr Michael Kneebone, Chairman of Malaysia Totalisator Board, Mr Thean Ming Fatt, Chairman of Perak Turf Club, Dato' John Lim, Former Deputy Chief of Selangor Police, Dato' Sasikala and Former Member of Parliament, Tan Sri M Kayveas, Tan Sri Datuk Dr Ridzwan bin Datuk Dr Abu Bakar and Tan Sri Lim Yan Hai.

Also present were renowned Ms Jenny Chapman, Race Presenter for the Hong Kong Jockey Club and also twice Champion Lady Jockey in Victoria, Australia, accompanied by her husband, prominent bloodstock owner Mr David Price of Price Bloodstock.

Lucky Magic delivered a thrilling performance under the Selangor sun, outclassing a competitive field of 16 runners to seize the historic RM1 million prize. The victory marked a significant triumph for trainer HY Cheng and the jubilant Happy Baby Stable connections.

Reflecting on her first experience at the Selangor Turf Club, Jenny Chapman shared her enthusiasm. "David & I thoroughly enjoyed our day at Selangor races. It was great to see the track, meet many of the participants & see the horses in great condition. The Selangor Mile worth RM1 Million, was the highlight race & lived up to all expectations. We were also treated to great hospitality by the Committee & staff. We are already looking forward to returning next year along with others.
