Colin McNiff's preview for Hobart on Sunday

It may not be the mare's preferred track, but trainer Siggy Carr is hoping Lovin' Bev can get back into the winners' circle when she contests the 1400m BM68 in Hobart on Sunday.

While her record in Launceston is better, Lovin' Bev has won twice from three runs over 1400m in Hobart.

First-up, she drew wide and had to do plenty of work to find the lead and was run down late by Just Cruisin', beaten 3/4 of a length in Launceston on 3 August.

"Bev has come through her first-up run really well and will take plenty of benefit from it," Carr said.

"The only query is Hobart, she's never quite at her best there, especially having to climb the hill, if it was Launceston I'd be very confident."

Overall, Lovin' Bev has raced 20 times for five wins and six placings, her prize money is just short of $140,000, and at her only try at Group 3 level, she ran a competitive seventh in the Vamos Stakes (1400m) in Launceston in February.

Carr is taking advantage of fly-in apprentice Sam Kennedy and her 3kg claim. Kennedy has been in sparkling form at the past two Hobart meetings, riding five winners.

"She gets in well with Sam's claim, so we are looking forward to her going around."

Carr has five horses entered at the Hobart meeting; she is confident Wannabe Ziggy will be competitive in the 1400m maiden earlier in the day.

"I think the step up to 1400m will really suit her, she was nearly ready to win last start but had no luck copping a lot of interference, so that run was a complete forgive."

Wannabe Ziggy has drawn barrier two and should get a nice run; Troy Baker has the ride. The 5yo has been placed at five of her 10 starts, twice at 1400m, from four tries at the trip.

"With this trip and this grade, she looks to be right in the mix," Carr said.

My best, each way, is race 4 number 7 Sorell Lad, only two runs, no early speed, but has been hitting the line well and will be suited by the rise in distance to 1200m.

The first race is at 12:30, with all the action on Tasracing Live.
