Saturday’s French banker of the day is a proven performer in the conditions…
Janeiro Verde (Clement Lefebvre/Donatien Sourdeau de Berauregard)
Auteuil – R1 – Prix Ucello II
· Had an interim run over the summer to uphold some level of fitness
· Put together a run of four victories at the end of last campaign
· Talented performer at a higher level
One of two quality performers in the field, Janeiro Verde has the benefit of a more recent run over his main market rival, Incollable. It appeared connections were trying to keep some level of fitness ongoing for the six-year-old, who sat midfield in a June Class 3 conditions hurdle and never made any further progress, finishing a solid fifth.
Victories in the Group 3 Prix General de Saint-Didier and the Listed Prix le Touquet show that the grey is far superior to his recent run, given the right conditions. He boasts two wins and a placing from three attempts over course and distance and should out-class these, if running up to anywhere near best.
