Tuesday’s French banker of the day is an improving filly looking to reverse the form with an old adversary…
Burguesinha (Mauricio Delcher Sanchez/Maxime Guyon) Deauville – R2 – Prix de Fierville
- Capable of improvement on third career outing
- Likes these conditions
- Useful breeding; out of a Listed winner
The second race at Deauville is a competitive five-and-a-half-furlong maiden and it appears the market are likely to favour Viziosa and Burguesinha, with the latter getting the slender preference from the team. A daughter of Mehmas, Burguesinha showed a good turn of foot to finish second on debut over this distance at Chantilly before finishing third in the same race as Viziosa (second) on her subsequent outing. There's clearly little between these two fillies, but Mauricio Sanchez's charge has the potential to improve on her third start, compared to her rival, who has probably found her level. Raced handily in both her outings, it will be interesting to see if Maxime Guyon attempts to change tactics with this filly who kept going, rather than accelerating, in the closing stages of her last outing.
Burguesinha is out of a Godolphin mare Firebird Song, a winner in the UK, France and Germany, and good enough to take Listed honours at Hanover in 2019.
