Richard Hannon’s Rosallion has been forced out of the Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville on Sunday due to a bruised foot.

A winner of the Irish 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes as a three-year-old, Rosallion has failed to get his head in front this season, finishing third behind Lead Artist on his reappearance in the Lockinge Stakes before narrow defeats in the Queen Anne and Sussex Stakes.

The Richard Hannon-trained son of Blue Point, who relishes quick conditions, looked to have plenty in his favour when bidding to regain the winning thread in the Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville.

However, Hannon has ruled out his stable star due to a bruised foot, with the handler revealing that he instead will reroute Rosallion to the seven-furlong Sky Bet City of York Stakes at York next weekend.

Hannon said on X: "Unfortunately, we have decided to pull Rosallion out of the Prix Jaques le Marois on Sunday. He has a bruised foot that he picked up in training this week which has been treated but we aren't completely happy and feel it only right to give him the extra days.

"This means we won't make the trip over to France but will instead head to York. We are very happy with the way he is looking and working and will head for the Group One City of York next weekend with the support of (owner) Sheikh Mohammed Obaid who wants the best for the horse.

"It's disappointing for everyone involved but the horse's welfare, as always, comes first."
