Te Rapa Race 1
5 Quantum Legend

TIP OF THE DAY
Quantum Legend (#5) makes his debut for Tony Pike and looks to have above average ability. His most recent trial win at Te Rapa was eye-catching, quickening sharply under minimal urging from Michael McNab. The wide draw presents some risk, but with McNab aboard he has the right pilot to overcome it.

Te Rapa Race 2
3 Charlemagne

Charlemagne (#3) produced a strong effort for 4th here last start, hitting a flat spot before rallying late in a tight finish. The booking of Matt Cameron looks a positive, and from the wide draw he may look to be put into the race early. In an even contest, he's a genuine chance again.

Te Rapa Race 3
3 Diamond Jak

Diamond Jak (#3) has really turned a corner since a hurdling trial back in June, which has seemed to spark some improvement. His last-start victory was full of merit, and he looks suited again on a Heavy track here at Te Rapa. No reason why he can't go back-to-back.

Te Rapa Race 4
16 Playinasandpit

Playinasandpit (#16) appeals again at the price despite stepping up in grade. She was excellent here last start when sustaining a long wide run and only just missing. This R65 looks an even contest on paper, and with even luck from the draw she could feature in the finish at odds.

Te Rapa Race 5
5 Lotus

Lotus (#5) has been racing consistently and now looks well placed dropping back slightly to 1500m. She maps to secure the run of the race trailing likely leader Elle McFab, which should see her given every opportunity. In an open field, Lotus appeals as a leading contender.

Te Rapa Race 6
8 Mo Charaid

Mo Charaid (#8) ended his last preparation with a good win at Pukekohe on a testing Heavy10. He resumes here from a wide draw, though that may not be a disadvantage later in the day. With a strong and busy rider in Matt Cameron aboard, expect him to get back and look to storm home late.

Te Rapa Race 7
3 Mali Ston

Mali Ston (#3) was runner-up in this race last year in what looked a stronger renewal than this edition. From the wide draw he should get back off a genuine tempo and look to blend into the race late under Michael McNab. At the current price, he shapes as a very good each way chance.

Te Rapa Race 8
1 Asgard

Asgard (#1) won well first-up on similar track conditions here this time last year and should be ready to repeat the dose after a couple of trials. Joe Doyle rides from a handy draw, which should see him given every chance to run a bold race first-up. In an even contest, he looks as good a chance as any.
