Ruakākā Race 1
13 Distintiva

Distintiva (#13) wasn't disgraced here last start in a race where few made ground from the back. She should strip fitter now third-up, and the addition of blinkers may help sharpen her up. With Warren Kennedy taking the ride, an improved showing at odds wouldn't surprise.

Ruakākā Race 2
8 Zenzero Girl

Zenzero Girl (#8) was a good thing beaten over this course and distance last start when shut out in the concluding stages. She maps to get back in a genuinely run race here, and while she may need luck from the draw, she appeals as a solid each way chance at the price.

Ruakākā Race 3
4 Age Of Discovery

TIP OF THE DAY
Age Of Discovery (#4) makes his return after a long lay-off and arrives first-up off two very strong trial efforts. He maps to get a perfect run just off the speed and should be afforded every chance under Opie Bosson. Can resume with a win.

Ruakākā Race 4
6 Tuxedo

Tuxedo (#6) resumes after finishing 7th in the NZ Derby back in March. He has trialled up nicely in preparation for this and looks ready to make a strong return. Expect him to possibly settle back in the field under Michael McNab before working through his gears late.

Ruakākā Race 5
3 Berenhard

Berenhard (#3) was brave when running 2nd here first-up, after being left exposed on a genuine tempo. Although drawn wide again, he has the speed to press forward and settle on the pace again. With natural improvement from that run, he can take plenty of beating.

Ruakākā Race 6
1 Geneva

Geneva (#1) was an impressive debut winner as a 2yo in May and has trialled well since. From the handy draw, he maps to get the run of the race just behind the speed. A colt with above-average ability who will be tough to beat.

Ruakākā Race 7
6 Texas

Texas (#6) has been working home fairly in recent starts without setting the world on fire. He looks suited getting on to a better surface here, and from the inside gate, he should enjoy a soft trip throughout. Expect him to be finishing well again, and he rates an each way chance.

Ruakākā Race 8
5 Phantom Dragon

Phantom Dragon (#5) has been a touch hit and miss since returning from Australia and remains winless since January 2023. He should appreciate getting back on firmer footing, and with Sam Collett sticking from a middle draw, he can run an improved race in an even lineup.
