New Plymouth Race 1
3 Tavis Court

Tavis Court (#3) looks the logical leader in this small field, with Kate Hercock likely to adopt similar tactics to those used when winning in a small field two starts back. From there, the race should be run at no more than a moderate tempo, and he can give a bold sight if able to dictate in front.

New Plymouth Race 2
2 Florin

Florin (#2) was enormous running into third at Te Rapa last start after being slow away. He maps to settle back in this small field from a wider draw, in a race where a genuine tempo looks likely. Expect him to be storming home late and proving hard to hold out.

New Plymouth Race 3
3 Powerofpersuasion

Powerofpersuasion (#3) resumes after finishing a well-beaten fifth at Rotorua back in May – but her debut win prior was full of merit. Her recent trial was better than it appeared, finding the line under her own steam despite being cluttered between runners. With a genuine tempo up front, she can settle off the speed and finish strongly.

New Plymouth Race 4
2 Nigella Lane

Nigella Lane (#2) was below her best last start but happy to forgive that run. She looks ideally placed at the weights, with Aljay's engagement compressing the scale in her favour. If she runs up to her prior form, she'll be very hard to beat.

New Plymouth Race 5
8 O'Ceirins Belle

O'Ceirins Belle (#8) couldn't replicate her good win two starts back when struggling on a testing track at Hawera last start. Returning to her home circuit should suit, with the likelihood of a slightly better surface this time. Expect Kelly Myers to be positive, which should see her running an improved race.

New Plymouth Race 6
5 Si Exquis

TIP OF THE DAY
Si Exquis (#5) impressed late when resuming over 1200m at Te Rapa. The step to 1600m second-up looks ideal, and from a low draw he should land just off the early speed in a race lacking tempo beyond Rosesrred. With Indian Gold likely to be giving him a start, the value lies with Si Exquis for mine.

New Plymouth Race 7
7 Belles Beau

Belles Beau (#7) is worth another chance despite disappointing at his last two starts. His subsequent trial was excellent, suggesting he's primed for this. While his wide draw looks tricky, the strong tempo could allow him to slot in just off the speed. Capable of bouncing back.

New Plymouth Race 8
9 Tutin Cans

Tutin Cans (#9) hasn't appreciated the Heavy10 tracks he's struck recently. A freshen-up and a hurdling trial since his last outing may spark some improvement out of him. In an even race, anything close to his best would see him competitive.
