Te Rapa Race 1
1 Mr Marigold

Mr Marigold (#1) has been knocking on the door all prep and now gets the blinkers on for the first time. With Michael McNab taking the reins and potentially a better surface to suit, this shapes as his best opportunity yet to break through for that elusive maiden win.

Te Rapa Race 2
12 We Found Love

We Found Love (#12) was only fair first-up at Ruakaka, but the tiring track late in the day may not have suited. Now second-up and potentially on an improved surface, she looks capable of sharp improvement at odds. With many in this field likely preferring it wetter, she appeals as a value play.

Te Rapa Race 3
1 Rio Grande

Rio Grande (#1) has been ultra-consistent in five starts to date without getting his head in front where it counts. He draws well, gets McNab aboard, and may appreciate the slightly firmer going. Looks hard to beat in what appears a moderate maiden field.

Te Rapa Race 4
1 Ribkraka

Ribkraka (#1) caused an upset here last start when defeating the hotpot Honey Badger in awful conditions. He gets Yuga Okubo on again and should press forward from the wide gate. If he finds the lead again, he'll be tough to run down.

Te Rapa Race 5
9 Lotus

Lotus (#9) has continued to progress this winter and was brave for second here last start. Wiremu Pinn rides from the inside draw, she should take up a handy spot. A major player in what looks a wide-open affair.

Te Rapa Race 6
2 Lazio

TIP OF THE DAY
Lazio (#2) was beaten as a short favourite last start at Hawera but now gets the blinkers on – a key gear change given how well he trialled in them previously. With the claim taking weight off and a more even track likely in his favour, he can atone here.

Te Rapa Race 7
6 Boomtown Boy

Boomtown Boy (#6) had every chance last start but couldn't reel in the leader. A return to better footing should help, and Tina Comignaghi hopping aboard on the minimum is a plus. Capable of featuring at a price.

Te Rapa Race 8
1 Indian Gold

Indian Gold (#1) was huge when flashing into second first-up here in similar conditions. He's been scratched a couple of times since but returns in a race that sets up much the same. He'll likely get back from the wide gate but can power home again. Hard to beat with a repeat effort.
