Riccarton Park Picks - Wednesday, 23 July

Riccarton Synthetic Race 1
2 Pure Artist

Pure Artist (#2) looks well suited getting back on to the synthetic, while all three of his runs to date have had merit. He gets a favourable swing in barrier draws and should land handy to the speed. Looks the one they have to beat in the opener.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 2
12 Enterprise Gem

Enterprise Gem (#12) has caught the eye in all three runs since heading south and now looks suited stepping up to 1600m. She was excellent here on the synthetic two starts back and will get back and run on as per her usual pattern. Looks a strong winning hope.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 3
4 Delphillius

Delphillius (#4) boxed on solidly for 4th here last start and looks to get her chance again in this small field. Courtney Barnes will likely look to push forward from the wide gate and control the tempo in this small field. If she finds the front, she'll take running down.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 4
10 Andina

Andina (#10) is a 2yo by Shocking on debut from the Parsons team, who have been flying on the synthetic surface this season. She trialled back in September 2024 and has been given time since that effort. With Tina in the saddle for her debut, she's worth a small each way play at odds.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 5
1 Go Your Own Way

Go Your Own Way (#1) hasn't had much luck this prep but continues to find the line well. The inside draw is ideal here and he maps to settle back on the fence and surge late. Right in this with better luck in the straight.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 6
6 Iffin Doubt Dance

Iffin Doubt Dance (#6) was a good third here last time out in stronger company. Tina Comignaghi sticks from the same draw and if she can get across into a forward spot again, this mare should give another bold sight.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 7
6 Joyola

Joyola (#6) debuts for the Kezia Murphy stable after fair northern form in stronger fields. Multiple gear changes ahead of this are worth noting, a forward showing fresh wouldn't shock in what looks to be a race within her reach.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 8
5 Hot Coco

Hot Coco (#5) found the line well for fourth here last start and maps to get a soft trip from the low draw in this small field. Tina Comignaghi remains aboard and she looks the one they'll have to hold out in the run home.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 9
3 Graeme John

Graeme John (#3) resumes in the South Island for new trainer David Walsh. While his Central Districts form tailed off, he was racing in tougher fields than this for the most part and draws well for the fresh run. Capable of featuring in the finish.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 10
3 Elegant Explosive

TIP OF THE DAY
Elegant Explosive (#3) backs up quickly from her second at Oamaru on Sunday. Her last effort at this course/distance was enormous and with even luck, she should prove awfully hard to hold out.
