Hāwera Race 1
4 Pick Of The Litter

Pick Of The Litter (#4) ran a sound race fresh on a testing track at Rotorua, finding the line well into 6th. She'll carry just 53.5kg after the claim and should be improved second-up. The rise in trip looks ideal and she shapes as a strong chance in what looks a wide-open staying contest to start the day.

Hāwera Race 2
3 Lazio

Lazio (#3) was good for 3rd behind Ima Brazen One and Farravallo back in May. He's since trialled up nicely and should be ready to go for this second-up assignment. The small field suits, and he maps to follow Farravallo throughout. His race to lose if he brings his best.

Hāwera Race 3
4 Valvano

Valvano (#4) is a 2yo son of Shocking on debut for Andrew Campbell. He's had just the one quiet trial leading in, but handled the Heavy10 well and showed enough to suggest he'll cope with these conditions on raceday. A bold debut is expected.

Hāwera Race 4
1 Stewart

Tip of The Day
Stewart (#1) was excellent last start at Te Rapa when finishing 2nd, with a big margin back to third. That was his first run for Gavin Sharrock, and he's likely to improve again at his second run for him. The wide draw might not be a disadvantage if the inside cuts up. Looks the one to beat.

Hāwera Race 5
2 Tobias

Tobias (#2) has been slow out in both starts this prep, which has seen him land further back than ideal. He gets to the mile now third-up and draws wide in a small field, which may allow him to roll forward and take up a handy position. A capable wet-tracker who looks well placed to run an improved race here.

Hāwera Race 6
3 Tisse

Tisse (#3) produced a bold run first-up at Trentham, surging home late for 2nd on a Heavy10. That should bring him on nicely and he gets a touch more ground here to work with. A very even race, but Tisse looks the one on the up and is a good chance to go one better.

Hāwera Race 7
7 Keeping Time

Keeping Time (#7) caught my eye first-up at Whanganui when parked wide on a genuine speed and still sticking on for 5th. She maps to go forward again from the wide draw, with Snipsnap drawn underneath likely to cart her across the field. Second-up, she appeals at a nice price.

Hāwera Race 8
10 Smokin Mo

Smokin Mo (#10) made up strong late ground first-up over 1600m when finishing 3rd. She looks better suited up to 2100m here and should be hitting the line hard late again. Solid each way chance to close out the day at odds.
