Cambridge Picks - Wednesday, 9 July

Cambridge Synthetic Race 1
1 Super Star Dragon

Super Star Dragon (#1) has put together two solid runs at this course and distance at his past two starts. Finds a very thin maiden here and will carry just 54.5kg after Sam McNab's 4kg claim. Expect him to be ridden off the speed and look to finish over the top late.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 2
3 Seamsew

Seamsew (#3) hasn't been far away in his past two runs at this track and trip. Maps to get the perfect run from the low draw, and Yuga Okubo's 4kg claim brings him in well at the weights. Can go close in this.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 3
4 Delorean

Delorean (#4) arguably should have won two starts ago when held up, then was simply outclassed since in Open Handicap company. Drops back in grade here and looks very well placed with just 53.5kg after the claim. Drawn to get every chance, hard to beat.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 4
11 Super Fly

Super Fly (#11) was good late when finishing 4th at Ruakaka and makes her debut on the synthetic where she trialled up nicely ahead of this prep. Appears to have more upside than most of these and can make a winning debut on the surface.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 5
2 Delz Abeel

Delz Abeel (#2) was well below his best last start at Ruakaka but gets a chance to rebound in this moderate maiden. Blinkers stay on, McNab sticks, and while he's untested on the synthetic, he's trained locally and should be familiar with the surface.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 6
3 Lerado

Lerado (#3) has only been fair outside of his strong win three back, but this is a significant drop in grade. Should get back off what looks a genuine tempo and can finish off strongly at odds.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 7
7 Reliable Squeeze

Reliable Squeeze (#7) ran a terrific second first-up at Ellerslie and maps to get a soft run just behind the pace from the inside gate. With only 52kg after the claim, she can make her presence felt despite facing race winners here.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 8
6 Colonel Warden

Colonel Warden (#6) was dominant in weaker grade last start and now gets a lovely trailing draw in a race with a bit of early pressure. Happy to back him on a 1×3 each-way basis to measure up here.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 9
1 Boxmoss
Tip of The Day

Boxmoss (#1) caught the eye when closing off for 4th in a much stronger race here first-up. Steps to 1300m and the 4kg claim sees him carry just 55.5kg here. Expect him to drift back and be powering home late. Looks ready to win second-up.
