Riccarton Synthetic Race 1
3 Go Your Own Way

Go Your Own Way (#3) was just fair to the line last start in a race where few made ground from off the speed. The step up in trip suits, and he's likely to get back and finish strongly as per his usual pattern. Not a deep maiden, happy to give him another chance.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 2
2 Cape Horn

Cape Horn (#2) did plenty of work last start and still kept finding the line well for sixth. Although drawn wide again, the booking of Tina Comignaghi is a plus. This isn't a strong maiden, and a repeat of his last effort could be enough.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 3
6 Big Chief

Big Chief (#6) posted the fastest late splits on debut, despite being beaten 8.8L. He looked completely disinterested early before making up strong ground late. Expect him to get back again from a wide draw, but the step to 1400m suits. Worth a speculative each-way play at big odds.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 4
2 Villasanti
Tip of The Day

Villasanti (#2) found the line nicely for second when resuming over 1200m. He'll be improved with that run under his belt and the rise to 1400m should be ideal. Looks very hard to beat in this.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 5
5 Elegant Explosive

Elegant Explosive (#5) bounced back with a much-improved fourth last time after a below-par effort prior. Back on the synthetic is no issue, and she should roll forward from the wide gate utilising Yogesh Atchamah's 2kg claim. Can feature in an even race.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 6
4 Portia Catonis

Portia Catonis (#4) was superb late in R75 company here last start, despite appearing under pressure and visually struggling on the turn. Back to 3yo SW&P suits well and she looks nicely placed under the conditions. From the low draw with Courtney Barnes aboard, she's the one to beat.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 7
6 Sorcha

Sorcha (#6) has been hard to catch of late, often getting too far back due to neutral-negative tactics early. With limited tempo expected outside of Doubtful Sound, Courtney Barnes may look to settle her handy in the run. Gets a 2.5kg weight swing on Vivacious and could improve sharply.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 8
4 Beau Brummell

Beau Brummell (#4) was disappointing last start but had no obvious excuses. His dominant first-up win is the better guide, and he now gets a big swing in barriers along with Bruno Queiroz jumping aboard. Capable of bouncing back at a price.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 9
2 Russian Rosette

Russian Rosette (#2) gets back on to the synthetic after two solid but unspectacular efforts on Heavy going. She maps to settle off a hot tempo and drops to 54kg with Floor Moerman's claim. Expecting her to be in the finish.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 10
8 Sonnet

Sonnet (#8) was well beaten here last time but sat wide without cover for most of the trip. Draws far better this time and will carry just 54.5kg after the claim. If she can slot in and get cover, she's a sharp improver at odds.
