Awapuni Synthetic Race 1
2 No Trumps
Tip of The Day
No Trumps (#2) showed good improvement when getting on to the synthetic surface for the first time last start, closing strongly from the back to finish second. The way he found the line over 1400m suggests the rise to 1700m will suit. Expect him to get back again and be hitting the line hard late. Best bet.
Awapuni Synthetic Race 2
1 Island Hop
Island Hop (#1) is worth another chance at what looks a generous early price. He was just fair last start but the step up to 1700m should be ideal now. Liam Kauri's 3kg claim brings him in nicely at the weights. An improved showing wouldn't surprise.
Awapuni Synthetic Race 3
1 Justaskpercy
Justaskpercy (#1) hasn't fired in his last couple of starts but has had excuses. Finds a very winnable assignment here, and anything close to his best would see him prove hard to beat. Liam Kauri's claim only enhances his chances also.
Awapuni Synthetic Race 4
6 Final Chapter
Final Chapter (#6) was doing his best work late in a similar field last start and looks suited now having his fourth run back from a spell. He gets a key swing in barriers for this and can settle a touch closer in the run. A strong each way play at the price.
Awapuni Synthetic Race 5
6 Sam's Turn
Sam's Turn (#6) is a locally trained 3yo on debut for the Grays. His recent trial win on a Heavy track was eye-catching, and it's notable that the stable opts to kick him off on the synthetic here. Can make a strong impression on debut.
Awapuni Synthetic Race 6
6 Kereti
Kereti (#6) showed promise early last campaign before tapering off late in the prep. His recent trial suggests he's returned in good order and he resumes on his home track from a favourable draw. Maps to settle up on speed and can run well fresh.
Awapuni Synthetic Race 7
9 Za Spirit
Za Spirit (#9) stuck on gamely for third last start after working early in a speed battle. She looks well placed here, carrying just 51kg after the claim. Expect her to be handy to the speed again and she can give a bold sight if she handles the synthetic.
Awapuni Synthetic Race 8
8 Revo
Revo (#8) was doing his best work late for fourth here last start, despite a checkered run in the straight. Bruno Queiroz takes over from a low draw, which should see him given every opportunity. Looks a strong chance to round out the program.
