It is hard to fault the recent form of Katies Princess and she finds herself another suitable assignment this week with a familiar driver in the bike in a junior drivers' race. That is always beneficial in those types of races. Handy enough draw and just needs to find the right kind of spot to be able to unleash.

Another week and another spot in the selections for Father Barry. He's just doing enough to keep the hook baited each week. Getting better though, as is the gait and if he can trot the entire way here tonight then he becomes a really strong chance of winning this, even off the 30m handicap.

After a strong third on debut, the winning effort of Chase Me last time out, against some quality opposition, was pretty impressive. Looks a dour pacer with a bit of staying prowess and that suits with tonight's wide draw. Can get handy at some point and look to put the rivals to the sword.

Another serial attendee in this column from most weeks but you can't not throw Hawkeye Pierce into the mix given his excellent form. He's going to get one sooner or later, just needs things to fall right into place to make it happen at the moment. Tempo up here should really suit.

Rare mistake last time out from Pantani and that one hurt the punters dearly given they'd piled right on in for the three-year-old trotter. Put a line through that, we'll be better placed here to get a true line on the ability if he can get away quickly. Best horse, and should win.

2 The Jolly Roger
Handy performances in the last two wins from The Jolly Roger and he's beginning to turn himself into quite the well rounded racehorse. Good draw to work from here tonight in an even looking field and while it is a step up on some of the recent assignments, he should have the edge on them.

Tip of The Day
After seeing a lot of the brilliant Captain Sampson recently, Aventador should appreciate looking up at noting his absence tonight. Decent slide down in opposition from some of the recent runs and with a small field to work with might just look to dominate from the outset. Hard to beat with own terms.

The biggest early market mover of the night comes in the last race in the form of Major Tommy. A Tate Hopkins trained pacer who resumes from a spell here and having joined a North Island barn. Has shown some ability in the past and a new environment might just unleash the necessary to get a win on the board.
