Race 1
10 Ima Brazen One

This filly has been on my watch list since seeing her as a 2yo at the trials. She was a very soft winner at her debut albeit in a race that hasn't proven overly strong. She has had a injury which has seen her off the scene for 210 days which is a shame as she would have lined up in very good 3yo company. Her trial was a real preparation run for today, not being asked for much of an effort. I am sure she has good ability and if it's not today I'm sure she will be a winner at short notice.
Selections: 10-6-1-7

Race 2
1 Bold Belle

This is a quality race at 75 level where if you find the winner you deserve a pat on the back and Trifectas and First 4's will be large. I have gone with Bold Belle as the speed map suggests that she should get the run of the race either leading or taking a trail and she looks well suited here stepping back to 75. She looks to have come up better than ever on the evidence of her two recent trials and with the addition of a 3 kilo claim she should be hard to beat. That said there is a power of speed in this race and that may play into the hands of a late closer like Sinbin or Popsagoosey.
Selections: 1-14-15-7

Race 3
13 Miyazawa

This is one of my racetrackers off "The Form" after a very unlucky performance at New Plymouth when denied a run for almost the entirety of the straight. That was after a very soft win fresh up at the 16000m at Tauherenikau. She looks perfectly suited to the step up to 2100m this afternoon from a draw that should see her asleep with cover and McNab going aboard is a major plus. She is short enough though at $4.5.
Selections: 13-5-3-12

Race 4
1 Just As Sharp

The Swiss Ace 3yo looms as the best bet of the day after a very strong effort in the Derby and the way that race has stood up form wise. There are whispers that he may be a prospect to be sold to Hong Kong so he will be at his best today. He has had a fair few terrible draws to deal with and that is not the case tomorrow so he should be able to position up much closer to the speed. He does possess a very potent finish and with any luck I see him unleashing on a field whose form simply does not stand up to his.
Selections: 1-10-9-3

Race 5
2 Apostrophe

It was very hard to miss her performance here last start when fast finishing in Black type at the 1600m. The step to 2100m therefore looks ideal today both to the eye and when you inspect her pedigree. The one concern is that her best has been on slightly rain affected tracks and it may just come up a little bit better than she likes. That said, she definitely deserves to be favorite but only just to Diss Is Dramatic who is clearly her match. This race looks like a split bet between the two and Sugah Sweet, Ruby Rocks filling the trifectas.
Selections: 2-8-4-3

Race 6
3 Arby

He looks the one to me off his last couple of starts coming back to Trentham where is went a massive race in the Levin Classic of his year. His fitness will be at peak today and from the gate he should get a lovely run and I expect him to power to the line. The one concern is a lack of tempo in the race that could see some traffic problems so Nereus should position up close top speed and is a talent for the future. Skyman may lead this up and could be very dangerous from there.
Selections: 3-9-2-1

Race 7
9 Captured By Love

There are a couple of factors that lead me to this filly she has been to Trentham and is a winner and I cannot see her blowing the start again. Her sectionals behind Velocious last time were strong and if she lands within a couple of lengths of the lead then she is clearly good enough to win. Velocious of course is a major player and from the drawn should either lead or trail and I have been a fan of Archaic Smile since the off and see their form lines as the ones to follow into the feature.
Selections: 9-7-8-6

Race 8
3 Tavattack

He is a real warrior this fellow and won last when it did not look likely inside the last 100m. He drops back to a luxury weight for him at 55.5kg from the ace draw on a track where he races outstandingly well. If there is value in the race Ifndoubtgetout last time at 1400m was brilliant and Times Ticking has always been a horse that races well in a fresh state.
Selections: 3-6-8-2

Race 9
1 Lantern Way

He is a lovely type this fellow who took on strong company fresh up this preparation and it looked like a run that will improve him immensely. It's a tough ask for a 3yo to carry 59kg in 75 grade with only one win on the board so he will have to be at his best. If you want one at value Liffey has all the ability to win this but she can be very hit and miss and Trentham hasn't been kind to her. Nancy She Wrote has been finding the line very well.
Selections: 1-6-13-11

Best: 1 Just As Sharp (Race 4)
Value: 10 Ima Brazen One (Race 1) and 13 Miyazawa (Race 3)
Blowout: 15 Popsagoosey (Race 2) and 6 Liffey (Race 9)
