TRIAL POINTERS
HAWKESBURY October 21: Shalaa filly SWORDPLAY again produced impressive trial form to run away with her 1000m heat by almost five lengths (58.55; 33.42). She is unbeaten in four trials and should be picking up a maiden win in the near future. Worth noting that the fastest 800m heat was won by the short course flyer TOO DARN LOVELY (46.49; 32.87), clearing out for a big win by almost seven lengths.
RANDWICK October 20: All eyes on a classy open heat featuring the unbeaten AUTUMN GLOW. After her Epsom Handicap win she was given an easy time finishing fourth in a her open heat overt 1050m won by her Epsom rival FULLY LIT (64.04; 34.29) as both prepare for return bout in the Golden Eagle. FULLY LIT looked strong sitting three wide about two lengths off the lead for the first 600m before making his move to take the upper hand turning for home and running freely to the line under an easy ride. AUTUMN GLOW tucked away behind them and there was no intent for her to do any more than go through her work, finishing 2.5 lengths from the winner. KISSAVOS, a maiden 3YO by I Am Invincible had not done much in four previous starts but he was switched on to win his 1050m heat in fast time (63.93; 33.92), surging to the lead under a big hold and extending his margin over the last 500m to win by an impressive 4.2 lengths. You rarely see horses from the Quinton stable trial in this manner and it augers well for an improved showing when he is next produced.
WARWICK FARM October 17: I Am Invincible filly CHISOLM was placed in her two interstate starts behind classy winners in Adelaide and Melbourne last season and showed here she has the obvious talent to win races. Pulled her way to an easy four lengths lead after 200m and was hard held through her 801m heat to win with plenty in hand (47.05; 33.64). Lonhro mare MOTHER GOOSE won a maiden for Godolphin last season and looks primed to resume for her new trainer after an impressive win in the fastest heat over 805m (47.02; 32.99). Easily took up the running after 100m and was always working well within herself to maintain her advantage to the line.
ROSEHILL October 13: Exciting 3YO BEIWACHT went through the motions to win his open heat over 1030m. He was quickly on the bunny and wasn't under pressure to maintain his advantage to the line, holding a good effort from the G1 winner Stefi Magnetica in the quickest of the three heats over the distance (61.68; 34.54).Lightly raced Zoustar mare NINETTE was spelled after winning her second start at Wyong in May. Looks set to go on with it this season after cruising to an impressive win by 3.5 lengths in easily the fastest 900m heat (52.67; 33.38)
RANDWICK October 7: Promising Shalaa filly SWORDPLAY was beaten as favourite on debut at Warwick Farm in June but she remains unbeaten in three trials with her work to win the fastest 740m heat (43.86; 33.29) another example of her obvious talent. She was held back to her rivals through the first half of the trial and did it easily to over the last 200m to win by a comfortable margin.
WARWICK FARM October 3: Russian Revolution filly LONG LEGS was one of the standout maiden heat winners. Raced twice last season for two city placings and is sure to be winning races after an impressive piece of work to win her 815m heat (48.45; 34.32) with style, extending easily over the last 200m with plenty in reserve.
WARWICK FARM September 18: Godolphin's unraced Bivouac filly JAEGERS worked strongly to win her 792m heat (47.11; 33.36) in her first trial for Gary Portelli. Looks to have come on since she had three trials last season for James Cummings.
