Selections and best bets from Chris Scholtz for the Randwick meeting on July 26 plus Trial Watch and Blackbook runners.
RANDWICK July 26
Best Bets
RACE 6 – (5) SHE'S UNUSUAL: Strong mare responds well to her having her races well-spaced with two placings and a last start win over this course and distance in each of her three starts since resuming in April coming a month apart. It's the same scenario again as she is coming off a 28-day break since that win when she dictated the race from the front and was far too strong for the chasers. Rates as the one to beat again with only 1kg more after the claim.
RACE 7 – (4) SACRED ROCKS: Built an impressive record in Victoria and has carried on since the switch to Sydney with a classy win over 1300m at Rosehill before her last start second to Brave One over 1400m at that course where she steamed home from the rear to miss by a neck. She has to contend with another sticky gate but she benefits from a 2kg allowance and has the talent to get home over the top of this opposition.
RACE 8 – (7) THE BLACK CLOUD: Back to Sydney after a game second under 58kg over 1100m at Caulfield where she had excuses from a wide gate. Resumed with a close second in this class at Canterbury and expect her to be ready for a peak performance with the benefit of those placings behind her and the right draw to enjoy a favourable passage.

Why They Can Win….
RACE 1 – (7) NAZWAH: High rating debut. Set to go on with it.
RACE 2 – (3) FORECASTER: Fit on pacer well placed with 3kg claim. Can take advantage of rails draw.
RACE 3 – (6) IN SUMMER: Solid build up to this suitable distance. Favourable draw will help.
RACE 4 – (4) STARDEEL: Progressive Dundeel 3YO. Suited this trip after doing best work late last time.
RACE 5 – (4) OH DIAMOND LIL: Tough mare unbeaten this course and distance. Suited again with handy drop in weight.
RACE 9 – (5) LIVIN' THING: Had excuses last time. Blinkers on and switch to a senior rider from soft draw will make a difference.
RACE 10 – (11) KAZALARK: Positive progress in each run after a long spell. Good value in an open race.

TRIAL POINTERS
ROSEHILL July 15: The five 2YO heats over 900m will be the source of numerous winners. Plenty to like about the heat win by NASHVILLE JACK (55.46; 35.38).
RANDWICK July 11: Strong Zoustar colt VALEDICTORIAN is typical of a youngster who will improve sharply on what he showed earlier in the season. The leaders flew over the first 600m in his 1050m heat so it was no surprise to see them gassed late as they were overwhelmed by the closers. This colt was six lengths back on the fence and had to ease across the heels of four leaders to get clear running at the 200m before surging to the line with a touch of class for a soft win (63.81; 35.42). There were numerous other good trials in the 2YO heats including the winner KOIBITO.
NEWCASTLE July 9: SHAGGY, the youngster who won three straight by dominant margins before starting favourite in the G2 Skyline Stakes, showed nice improvement off a recent first-up trial to win his 800m heat in good style (47.68; 34.34).
RANDWICK June 27: In the 1050m heats runners that took the eye with easy trials included OPEN SECRET.
ROSEHILL May 29: Heat winners worth noting included ANG POW
