I loathe laying Grahame Begg-trained horses but Castellito looks way too short for me. She is a jumpout star but hasn't done anything noteworthy on the track yet, getting over the top of a very basic field at Kyneton first-up, she was all out late too, so I don't like the step up in trip.
Doomben: Race 4; #4 Captain Eagle
I can't see anything beating the top two in betting and jockey Mark Du Plessis is in poor form with just the one winner from his last fifty rides.
Happy to risk him from barrier one at a track where he has had one win from eight attempts. With the rail so far out, I am doubtful he will be suited in this race with his usual get back pattern.
GREYHOUNDS
The Meadows: Race 2; #3 Taken Hostage
Taken Hostage hasn't raced since April and it's a big ask to win this over 525m against race fit dogs. Her PB of 30.18 should ensure she stays short enough to be a Lay proposition.
The Meadows: Race 8; #1 Coolabah Station
Coolabah Station seems more comfortable drawn out wide. He has never had the cherry before and if he tries to get to the outside he could find trouble. Hoping Queen Kimetto begins and hunts for the rail which could annoy Coolabah Station just enough to get him beaten.
HARNESS
Shepparton: Race 5; #6 Let It Be Me
Tough assignment fresh here in a good race. Looks a risk.
