WARRIOR CAPTAIN – slow to begin and bumped shortly after the start. From leaving 400m, when urged to improve its position, commenced to hang in and approaching 300m, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BROADWAY ALLEY which had commenced to give ground. Leaving the 250m, WARRIOR CAPTAIN was again awkwardly placed close to the heels of BROADWAY ALLEY and had to be switched outwards to secure clear running. When questioned, Jockey Chumun explained that rounding the home turn he had expected BROADWAY ALLEY to secure an inside run, however BROADWAY ALLEY continued to go straight with his mount, becoming awkwardly placed close to its heels, such that he had to switch his mount outwards to continue going forward.
BROADWAY ALLEY – Jumped awkwardly, switched ground inwards bumping WARRIOR CAPTAIN and slow into stride.
Trainer Allet and Jockey Bheekary appeared before the Board and preliminary evidence was taken at an inquiry into the running and riding of BROADWAY ALLEY. The inquiry stands adjourned to Tuesday morning.
