Midweek racing returns to Sandown this week where we have an eight race program to be run on the Lakeside.

The rail will be in the true position and the track is currently rated a good 4.

Our Ladbrokes preview can be found below.

RACE 1 - 1:00PM: LADBROKES OWNERS INCENTIVE SCHEME PLATE MAIDEN SW (1400 METRES)

Elba has performed well in all three runs to date.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock resumed with a solid effort over 5 1⁄2 f at Echuca before stepping out over 6 f at Moonee Valley where she had the task ahead of her from the outside gate.

She was always wide but hit the line strongly from the back to go down by a head.

The step to 7 f looks ideal and she's drawn to get a soft run under Beau Mertens, who goes onboard for Anthony and Sam Freedman.

RACE 2 - 1:35PM: LADBROKES YARD COMMENTS HANDICAP CLASS 1 (1200 METRES)

Who Dares may have only won the one race from fourteen starts but the form around him is hard to go past.

The Deep Field gelding contested some strong races last preparation and placed behind some quality opposition.

He was unlucky when resuming at Seymour against a hot field as he was always wide and then held up in the early part of the straight.

At his most recent outing in BM78 grade he left the gates awkwardly and rolled forward, hitting the front 0 out just to be overrun late.

He drops sharply back in grade and looks ready to peak third up.

RACE 3 - 2:10PM: LADBROKES COMMUNITIES HANDICAP BM64 (1400 METRES)

Alectrona broke through for a deserved maiden victory last start.

After finishing the runner up in her first two runs back this campaign, the Tony and Calvin McEvoy trained filly proved far too good when stepping up to 1400m.

A daughter of The Autumn Sun, she appears very progressive and the team have elected to keep her at the same trip which looks ideal.

Harry Coffey has been onboard for all three of her runs this time in and he's sure to afford her every chance in the small field.

RACE 4 - 2:45PM: LADBROKES RACING CLUB HANDICAP BM70 (2100 METRES)

Speak drops back in grade after contesting the Group 3 Lexus Stakes last start.

The UK import has just had the three Australian starts and was terrific second up in the Pinker Pinker Plate at Cranbourne.

After settling at the tail the Sea The Moon mare powered home late to grab second.

Last start she settled up on speed and just didn't finish off over the 2500m.

She's fit, comes back in grade and the drop to 1 5⁄16 m looks ideal.

Craig Williams goes back in the saddle for Mike Moroney and from barrier two, she's set to get the run of the race.

RACE 5 - 3:20PM: TILE IMPORTER HANDICAP BM64 (1600 METRES)

Northern Barrage resumes.

Only lightly raced with the seven starts to his name, the Churchill gelding showed plenty pf promise in his first campaign with some top performances in quality races.

A winner over 7 f at his second start, he then went on to place in both the St Leger trial and Listed Galilee Final before rounding out his first prep with a solid effort in the South Australian Derby.

He comes here off three recent jump outs and the way he found the line suggests he's forward enough to run a big race first up over the mile.

Wiremu Pinn will do the steering and take 2kgs off.

1 unit – NORTHERN BARRAGE

BET NOW: Sandown Race 5

RACE 6 - 3:55PM: TOBIN BROTHERS CELEBRATING LIVES HANDICAP BM64 (1400 METRES)

Belmia hasn't had much go right for her this campaign.

Customarily slow out of the gates, she came out a long way behind them at her second run back and was never really in contention but still finished off well.

She was sent back to the jump outs and was much better out of the barriers last start.

After being able to take up a midfield position she just struggled to pick up when the speed went in what was a leader dominated race.

She'll appreciate getting up to 7 f and getting back on a bigger track.

Craig Williams knows her well and if he can get her out of the gates on terms, she should prove hard to beat.

1 unit – BELMIA

RACE 7 - 4:30PM: I've > HANDICAP BM64 (1300 METRES)

Charming Di hasn't been far away in two runs back this preparation.

Kicking off over 6 f at Pakenham, the Rubick mare was held up in the early part of the straight and worked home nicely into fourth.

She was good again last time and just gave the impression she might be looking for that bit further and she gets that here.

The blinkers go on for the first time and Carleen Hefel will take 1.5kgs off.

If she can get her into a nice position from the awkward draw, she'll be right there at the finish.

1 unit – CHARMING DI

BET NOW: Sandown Race 7

RACE 8 - 5:05PM: LADBROKE IT! HANDICAP BM70 (1200 METRES)

Mornington Glory has performed very well in three runs for new trainer Gavin Bedggood.

He recorded a dominant win two runs back before chasing home the very talented Rey Magnerio down the Flemington straight last time.

The son of Shalaa showed good ability early winning on debut before contesting the Group 2 Danehill Stakes where he finished just on the heels of the placegetters.

After having a long time off the scene he's returned in top order and looks well placed here over 1200m.

Beau Mertens retains the ride and he's drawn to get every chance.

1 unit – MORNINGTON GLORY
