A strong card but found it very tough to stamp some best bets. The likes of Olentia, Think It Over and even Nature Strip all probably deserve to be favourite but have their knocks, whether it be age or price related.
Another price related knock comes up in the last where Garza Blanca is once again favourite off an unlucky second on resumption at $1.90, notching up his third consecutive second placing.
I don't think he deserves to be so short again here however in a race with a bit more depth and even if he runs to his peak of 103 he's no good thing. He's going to be back in the field again and likely behind Pereille who I think can measure up.
He finally got another win on the board at Moonee Valley last time, running to a new peak of 97 and while that race was nothing flash, his SP profile has always suggested he's got a bit of class.
We're getting a fair price about him in my opinion with Nash on board and I can see him getting a good run midfield and letting down strongly at $7.
For the value play I'm going to go back to Race 4 and take a gamble on Gan Teorainn who made her Australian debut in the Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury and I thought she got home okay there.
As is typical for Waller from a wide gate, especially first she was taken back to last but she picked off a few late to get into seventh, beaten 3.9 lengths.
She drops 3lbs off that run, meeting Logan Street Lion 3.5kg better at the weights, and now draws an inside gate. Her peak Timeform rating is 101 when second, beaten 5 lengths in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac (1600m) to a top shelf filly in Blue Rose Cen and with that run under the belt I think she can get into the finish at double figures.
